Here's my new big 12, that tries to trim fat and keep the teams that might bring value and makes sense on a map...
16 teams like the big and sec....teams not selected can be added if big or sec adds more teams...
4 texas teams, 3 califonia teams

west:
washington (nice stadium/seattle)
oregon (good team/portland)
stanford (academics/san fransiaco)
cal (academics)
arizona (only need 1 school in zona)
utah (good team)
san diego (some kinda so .cal recruiting base)
unlv (best stadium in football, vegas trip)

east:
baylor (good team)
tt (good team)
tcu (dallas tv, recruiting)
houston (sleeping giant,tv market, recruiting)
ku (bball/need only 1 team in kansas)
osu (need 1 team to compete with oklahoma's recruiting)
cu (denver)
byu (good team, split them from stanford and cal intolerance)

no:
washington state (only 1 team needed in washington/mwc)
oregon state (only 1 team needed in oregon/mwc)
asu (they cheat alot/mwc)
ksu (mwc)
isu (mwc)
wv (needs to go to acc)
cinncy (needs to go to acc)
ufc (needs to go to acc)

One problem with that ever happening is they're never going to kick out existing long time legacy teams like KSU and ISU. Or other teams they've recently added.

As long as we are playing fantasy

once we get to the mega conferences I would love to have the divisions reshuffled every season based on seed from the prior year

div 1 seeds - 1 4 5 8 9 12 13 16 17 20
div 2 seeds - 2 3 6 7 10 11 14 15 18 19

Both have better football programs than at least six of the schools he listed.

my reasoning there is cutting the pie less...
why keep ksu when you have ku? why devide that tv market? ku has bball and is aau also..which gives them the upper hand...and iowa probably dominate the iowa tv market...
the manhatten and ames tv market is not worth it, nor the recruiting footprint.

plus them both being gone would help ku more...(and us and iowa)

I fully understand the intent BUT the reality is that would never happen, kicking somebody out. Conferences don't purge existing members.

I would like to see the big make a schedule and maybe stick to it some year...they seem to change it every other year and we end up playing ohio state all the time, and not some other teams..

I'd like to play ohio state every year during the 90's but when the lincoln head office can't dislodge it's head from it's back side, it's kinda a problem when your trying to rebuild.

Never say never
Well of course you never say never but the odds indicate it's extremely unlikely. It happens historically only when a significant group of teams from one conference decides to abandon ship and join another conference leaving some members behind in the old conference to fend for themselves. But that isn't technically kicking a team out of an existing conference.

We play in the big ten’s minor league division - otherwise known as the west

MSU - Ind - Rutgers - Maryland play Michigan, OSU, PSU every single year

PSU plays both UM and OSU every year

Never say never
I remember when texas and 5 others big 12 teams were talking to the pac...they said that kinda mass exodus, blows up the conferance...then everybody is free to reassemble how they want..

I was just trying to think of a way to build a 16 team conferance on whats left of the pac and big 12..that keeps the best parts..weither academically, football,or tv market wise..

or what could be in the future...like right now..as of today...this hour...the pac won't have a so. cal team....
so pluging san diego state into the new conferance seems like a no brainer...for them so.cal recruits who don't want to fly all night to a game, and don't have the grades to get into stanford, and want to live in so. cal...

thats the biggest no brainer on this list besides houston..as far as down the road potential..

just making this list cause I watch 365 sports every day and they spent the last couple weeks going over what should be...and it's sat..and they ain't going to be on...mon - friday show

I will name them Steve, James and Sally

we could have replaced OSU with Creighton each of the last 5 years and we still wouldn’t have had a winning big ten record in any of those seasons

every other blue blood program or near blue blood depending on how one classifies Penn St plays OSU every year- only one blue blood whines about it

we have the worst conference record over the last 4 years of any team in the big ten west - playing OSU with some frequency isn’t the problem

IF it happened (it won't), but it'd be more of, "We're not kicking you out. We're just not asking you to join us to our new conference."

how bout purdue? how many time we play them? or indiana, Illinois?
now name the teams we haven't played every year since the big 10 started?
You keep moving the goal posts Sparky

you originally asked which teams we haven’t played every year since joining the BIG - I gave you 3 of them (Mich-OSU-PSU)

Purdue - Illinois and Indiana are also on the list

we’ve played Purdue and Illinois more than we’ve played OSU

What if Texas, Oklahoma and most importantly Nebraska came back to the big12? USC and UCLA would follow. How much would the landscape change?

I think we played ohio state 8 times and indiana, 2 times

this is what I'm talking about

So OSU is in fact one of the teams we haven’t played every year while in the Big - which is what you asked

then you listed 3 teams - Purdue - Illinois and Indiana - only one of which actually correctly answered the question that you were trying to ask but never was able to peck out a coherent sentence that actually asked it

If I were the Big 12, i would add Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, Maine, Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, Michigan St, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, USC, UCLA, Texas, Texas AM, Oklahoma and keep Kansas. I would then have 8 pods with 3 teams in each because all realignment plans need a pod system.

If you could switch where KU and KSU are currently located, I could see KSU having a more valid argument. They could argue that they would pull in the KC market along with having a solid football program.

Unfortunately for KSU, their location within the state does not help them with realignment.

2013,2014 and 2015.

That’s only 3 of the 11 years..

Ioway has only played them twice in that duration..
I wonder if the Michigan and Penn St fans get pissed about OSU’s cross div schedule

“those m..fers at OSU get to play Nebraska every year while we have to play good teams like Iowa or Wisconsin or Minnesota or Purdue”

Penn St isn’t complaining their 1-3 against Nebraska and Michigan is 3-2…

Quality, fact based info - thank you

i bristle a bit because I think given our historic place in college football we should be above complaining about playing team x or y. Programs should be pissed about seeing us on the schedule too frequently than vice versa

Nobody has played Ohio St more than Nebraska in the West division regardless how we‘ve fared..
Yea the Riley and Frost years are disasters, we shouldn’t be in this position..

Even if we were competing for the division title playing tOSU more than every one else is still a unfair advantage…

I believe you’re smarter than this..

I realize technically isn’t fair - my point is that as the only blue blood in the west it shouldn’t matter

for instance if we lose to OSU and Iowa beats Rutgers and we take care of business against Iowa we own the tie breaker

their is no comparison in regards to the ease of the path to the conf championship game between the east and west divisions
