Ohio State coach Ryan Day said Thursday morning that he thinks it takes $13 million in endorsement deals to keep his roster intact. Day's remarks at a school business event were reported by Cleveland.com and he said that a top quarterback can request $2 million in NIL deals. back on Jun 2, 2022
At some point, it might start becoming ridiculous for us (seemingly intelligent) grown men to keep being so interested in how 'our' 'college' football team does. As if the players have any connection whatsoever to us, our school, or our state.
I would invite the irs, at this moment to keep a EAGLE EYE on bama and the whole sec...
(throw tressel and reggie bush teams in there too)...
if they try to keep going under the table and avoid taxes (for bigger cash prizes)....
every uncle of sec players should have a full audit, with no stone unturned...
according to nick, he's never payed any players, but a&m does...("all of em")
but nick wins a NC every other year and a&m loses bout 3 to 4 games a year..

it's like you could count on teams that beat NU in the 80's would soon be on ncaa probation...
oklahoma, washington, ucla, colorado, free shoes, luther cambel, etc... (or sandusky type stuff)...
now that the federal government is involved, I'd like to see more then the ncaa whipping violators with a hot hershey bar...and no more throwing folks up against the wall for a ham sandwich..

My son was in Atlanta for SEC media and is in Charlotte now for the ACC….lots of interesting chatter going on.
Saban hates NIL because prior to it Bama was able to buy the number one recruiting class year in and year out, for probably under $2 million per year. Now with NIL, just a single player or two commands that much money.

I still remember when people used to say what a great coach Saban is. Seemingly everyone used to say that. As if his football coaching had something to do with his teams' success LOL.
It is a loss of control for these coaches, not a total loss of course but some.
This is like a HS coach at a school where a few parents have a bit too much power and "help" dictate things. It is annoying for the coaches.
The IRS won’t do anything even if they would get involved. Priorities, lack thereof, will allow teams to keep just enough above the table to allow the under the table deals to get better. The ROI to the schools keeps they going, until schools can’t keep increasing those facilities to ridiculous levels and the endowment doesn’t grow as fast and as large as the schools want. Then and only then will things actually get looked into
He is a great defensive mind and one of the best DB coaches in the world, if not the best.
I guess I got a lil long winded on my thoughts about the matter. I suppose time will tell if saban was as good as switzer, dr. tom, paterno, and bowden combined (NC wise)..or if there were some unseen stuff going on...
just seems abnormal for a coach to win a nc every other year for going on 2 decades, and not a peep from the ncaa or police...lol
I know bama was allways a big name, and there probably some big dudes produced from the plantation days in bama...maybe thats it.. I like bama and saben.....so maybe I'm just paranoid..

Look , if you think Saban breaks the rules to get players as everyone does , our players in the 90s, there was envelopes in lockers after games, that’s fine but to question if he is a great college football coach , I believe OP is right, you are not very knowledgeable about the game.!
If he's as great as those guys I quoted say....then why does he need all the top talent? Why doesn't he go to a normal team with average talent and show us what he can do?
