They failed to flip a top QB in their back yard that's committed to Purdue. Rickie Collins.

But he spoke with a Cajun accent though 🤔
Ha! That explains it, the kids could not understand what the hell he was trying to say!

I think Kelly took that job for a few reasons

1. It should be easier to recruit but really only in theory. ND is easy to recruit as well and I know they like to pretend that academics hurt them but their name brand more than makes up for that.

2. paycheck

3. Less pressure because he is the new coach, not the same old coach again.

Can you imagine the sideline interactions between him and Martinez after one of his bonehead mistakes

He is a piece of trash. I hope he is the biggest coaching flop in the history of coaching flops.
What is your point? I think he is an opportunistic pile of garbage and utterly unscrupulous. He is all about himself. I never said he was not a successful coach at ND. All I said was I hope he is a huge flop at LSU. And I stand by that.

Aren't most college coaches in it for bigger paychecks and self glory?

Pretty sure Kelly will do well there if the Cajun horde will buy into his style. I initially thought it was an underwhelming hire but as time has gone on I think they made about the best hire they could short of saban. He will bring stability and accountability to lsu that won the recent natty in spite of lacking it.

Ya. That kind of sucks, but it's not the worst positions to lose a 4 star QB. Came out of no where. Brady Allen is on campus though and Michael Alaimo has been developing for a couple of years, so that helps lessen the sting. There is a top QB in 2024 from Indy that Purdue is fighting the Midwest from that they can hopefully land. Purdue wasn't banking on this guy, but it still sucks.

You also didn’t see me on your respective boards crowing about his commitment to NU
I wasn't crowing. I was discussing Kelly's recruitment in a thread about... you guessed it! Kelly's recruitment. That had nothing to do with Purdue other than Collins was committed there. I don't need to come brag about recruiting 4 star QB's to Purdue.

Came out of nowhere? You are so fos you sound like an iowa fan.

Four-star On3 Consensus top-200 quarterback Rickie Collins backed off his Purdue commitment on Monday, about three or four weeks ahead of schedule, from what I’ve gathered from sources close to the Baton Rouge quarterback. Collins has made a string of visits to LSU as quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan continues to dial up the pressure on the hometown standout. Not only did Collins camp at LSU in June, but sources point to last weekend’s return visit to campus. One source noted that last weekend’s trip has LSU moving in the right direction and added a new RPM prediction in favor of LSU. I’m told a decision should be finalized before the end of the summer.

Collins has also spent all of July tweeting he was fully committed to Purdue. So yes I thought Purdue, a school known for NFL QB's, with a coach that develops QB's and a QB friendly offense say well with a QB tweeting he was committed to Purdue all of July.

I figured if LSU turned up the heat though, it would get really difficult to hold on though. Happens. Oh well. On to the next one.

We all know you don’t need to come here to brag about purdue (lol as if there is even a single thing to tout)

It’s why we’re all so confused by your presence here in the first place

Hey BoilerN, if you know, did Purdue have any interest in Aiden Leffler from Indianapolis Roncalli? I used to work with his father. I saw that Aiden signed with Ball State, but I thought he was good enough to play at a higher level. Just curious

Name doesn't ring a bell. That could potentially change though with Collins gone. Collins committed so early that Purdue didn't recruit many QB's hard. I could see them offering since it's a local guy if Brohm sees the potential in him, but my guess is with Brady Allen in the fold and sitting well with O'Neil in 2024, they sit tight and maybe grab a portal QB. I'll let you know if I see his name pop up though! That would be cool to see unfold.

Thank you.
He started since his freshman year and shattered every record at that tradition-rich school. Led them to a 14-0 state title as a junior and almost repeated as a senior. Like I said, just curious
