The 1982 Penn state game mentioned in another thread got me thinking - when have we gotten an advantageous break

can’t think of many - the 2006 Kansas game - 1st conf game of the year (we went on to win the division)

game went to overtime - Nate Swift was reaching the ball out and may have fumbled it for a touchback in which KU would have gotten the ball in OT and just needed a FG to win. Ball was ruled down at the 1 and Cody Glenn scored the winning TD.

1988 UCLA game. Mark Blazek intercepts a pass, does a butt roll, and returns the ball for a TD. He was clearly down and everyone in the stadium knew it except the refs. A whistle was never blown and Blazek trotted to the endzone almost untouched because everyone stopped playing believing the play was over.

1997 Nebraska vs Missouri when the ball was kicked to keep it alive.
That was a correct call because the kick was unintentionally kicked, no different that hitting a helmet or the official.
I will probably say Johnnys punt return against ou in 1971, several blocks were questionable could have been called clips but weren’t

2015 game vs. Michigan State? Tommy Armstrong threw to Brandon Reilly for the late go-ahead TD. If I remember correctly, Reilly was out of bounds before coming back on the field to make the catch. The refs ruled he was forced off the field. I think the call was right, but it could easily have gone against us.

That was my pick also. I’d say the call was very generous.

1994 Orange Bowl against Florida State when 1 seconds was put back on the clock after Bobby Bowden had already been doused with Gatorade (or maybe it was Powerade, I can't imagine FSU would allow a UF product on their sideline).

I am not sure Nebraska benefitted because if the TV game clock was correct, there was clearly 2 seconds on the clock when the Nebraska receiver hit the ground. I would say the officials did their job and simply made the correct call.

I was at that game. Seems that was one of the few things that went right for the Huskers that day.

Was just talking to a rabid OU fan about this and he said it was not a clip. If this guy admits it, it was not a clip.
thats the only one that popped in my head, I'm sure we got some real good calls in not so big games.

Let’s just say during the 80’s and 90’s they didn’t look real hard in the horse stable - lucky for us. We were so strong and Not athletic at all. It was kind of embarrassing and obvious.

The ball wouldn't have bounced up like that if Wiggins hadn't kicked it. Caught a huge break on that one.
Didn't even touch his foot, it bounced off his shin. The rule is you can't intentionally kick the ball to someone else unless you're actually, you know, punting, and since Wiggins was being tackled by the defender before the ball even got there (DPI), it is impossible to believe he was intentionally kicking the ball to Davison. Nobody on the ABC broadcast said anything about it (including Musberger), if it were so obvious they would have mentioned it.

Wiggins himself said he kicked it intentionally right after the game. And then he clammed up right after that.RollingLaugh
But like was mentioned, it's impossible for an official to know that since he was being tackled before the ball even got there.

Kansas was a break our way
Blazek was clearly a bad call for us
I think we had a fumble recovery TD against KState when we were clearly down. (maybe this was the Crousch head twister game?)
Johnny's return was legit.
The out of bounds deal against Michigan State was the proper call. He was directed out by the defender.
Florida St extra second was correct. Official time kept on the field not on scoreboard (unless it's against texas or alabama vs auburn missed FG return special)
penn st fumble at goal line- really really close, we got lucky on that one.

Not a ref thing but my favorite was that Nebraska v Texas A&M game when the commentator kept yelling stuff like “Taylor, look out!!” in a genuine sign of concern on a late game pass rush

Yea, Nebraska wasn't athletic at all in the 90s....🤣

Last year versus Michigan - Illegal formation led to an Austin Allen Touchdown. Should not have counted.

Yes, not only did that pass play net a first down, but NU also had a timeout left and used it. So it was the correct call to allow one more play.
