Other than JoJo, it seems every recruit from Colorado over the last decade has been a bust - Tate Wildeman, Michael Lynn, Avery Anderson, Eric Lee, Luke McCaffrey, Kieron Williams, Paul Thurston.

Hopefully he has better luck in his NU career than the last linebacker/baseball recruit that came from Regis Jesuit High School - Shaun Coleman back in 2000. Coleman seemed like a pretty talented kid whose career was derailed with some strange injuries as I remember.

Thurston wasn't that bad, but gawd awful Cav wouldn't play him.

Longer than a decade ago but Josh Davis holds the school record for kickoff return yards. Held the big 12 record as well - not sure if it still stands. (Loveland, CO)

Of course in the years he played we spent a significant amount of time fielding opposing teams kickoffs

God those wide striped pants were awful

There have been a lot of significant contributors over the years from CO. In addition to some names already mentioned in this thread, there has been Chuck Malito, Dave Butterfield, Mike Knox, Marc Munford, Pierre Allen, Cory Ross, Morgan Gregory, Matt Slauson, Ross Pilkington, Jeremiah Sirles - I'm sure there are others.

While NU has still had success pulling recruits from CO since joining the BG10, there seems to have been less difference makers. Kind of like recruiting Texas, I think something has been lost since NU left the B12 and quit playing CU.

Might add Rod Smith that’s about it.

I do wonder if football in the state has stagnated a bit with less kids playing & CU being a prolonged dumpster fire

that said, Jojo was our best player for 2 straight years, so who knows

definitely can never have too many lanky athletes prowling around on D

Welcome! 11th best player out of CO?

Moor is the nation's No. 90 rated linebacker and No. 9 overall prospect in the state of Colorado for the 2023 class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.

Kenny Bell. Jack Stoll?

Kenny Bell was recruited more than a decade ago (2010 class I believe). Stoll was not really a difference maker. It just seems like since we joined the Big Ten, most of our Colorado recruits have not lived up to the hype.

The two things that stand out to me regarding Colorado kids who played for NU.
Back in the day when LB Mike Knox was a true freshman and NU was very good and Univ of Colorado was really bad. Early NU fell behind Colorado, and McBride was on the sidelines next to Knox complaining about NU's slow start. Knox said, "it's Colorado, coach." McBride laughed about that for years. NU went on to win by multiple touchdowns. (Too lazy to look up actual score).

The other was Chuck Malito, way back in the days of the Big Eight. Malito had won the Big 8 half mile race, he was the Big 8 champ. On Osborne's TV show, the moderator was telling the viewers about Malito's success and he asked Tom what he thought, and T.O., true to form said, "Chuck will come in handy in those 3rd and half mile situations." It was funny, Tom made a joke.

Don't forget Rich Sanger, the pride of Ovid, Colorado.

Not a player but I think we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Matt Lubick who we recruited out of a credit union in Colorado Springs

FWIW - I went back and looked at the top 5 rated HS recruits (per rivals) from CO from 2018-2020, so 15 recruits in total with all going to P5 schools (includes McCaffrey and Wildeman). Below is their college progression:

2 - bonafide starters with their original teams
5 - portal transfers, 2 to other P5 schools and 3 to other schools (one being Luke) - doesn't appear that any are starters at their new schools
7 - backups ranging from nonfactors to some PT
1 - on LDS mission, yet to play college ball.

Overall, it doesn't appear that, as a group, the top CO recruits have lit the world on fire the past few years, so its not just the kids that picked NU.

Hopefully Mr. Moore flips the script and is the next Jo Jo.

You guys are misreading that my comments about his rank are negative. Colorado turns out a lot of good athletes.
Then again, we can look at the Top 10 players NU has recruited from New Jersey.

Jeff Mills, Charles Fryar, Barron Miles, Jamaal Lord, Christian Peters, Darryl White, Jason Peter, Irving Fryar, Rich Glover and Mike Rosier. Every single one was a player. All but one
would be a threat to start for NU in 2022.

Exception would be Lord since NU will really throw a lot this year. Sorry for going a bit off topic.

The ollllllllllll’ under-rated and look at the offer list. Never gets old. Still like the diamond in the rough myself. Been listening for over two decades. However, now we have it figured out. Let me guess another mid 3*?
Why dont you welcome the young man to our football team and university... If you dont have anything nice to say is it so hard to just shut your soup cooler??

If we only can talk about “nice things” I’d doubt this message board would have much traffic at all. If you haven’t noticed the last time we went to a dam bowl game Obama was POTUS

Spare me the “let’s be nice” BS please

Im really not sure what’s so impressive with the offer list that people would point it out as “good” or brag about it. Iowa, Michigan, and UCLA that’s about it. Not really explosive otherwise.

Kid is a typical Ruud commit. Applegate, Stenger, & Malcom. Kind of seeing a trend with BR. He either gets a higher rated area commit that’s already tee-d up for him or he lands kids like this.

But Barrett definitely has a type and it’s not one that typically works out. His method is risky. That is the most positive way I can put it
