I've got a few:

Tommi Hill - I think he is going to help us this year and under coach Fish I think he is going to help us stay solid on the back end

Ajay Allen - This kid is my sleeper pick to see some time. Grant, Yant, Ervin, Rahmir are all going to stake their claim, but I think we are going to hear some chatter about this kid. Maybe I'm a year too early, just really liked his film.

Kevin Williams - Hopefully he does well as we really need our OL to perform. Seems to have a little nasty with him and we really need some other lineman to step up. The one thing that bugs me is our OL look like young doughy kids. There was a time when all of our lineman looked like they were 35 years old. WIlliams fits that mold.

Mathis. Need a All B1G 10 type of performance based on all the hype and NIL posturing. If teams scheme to stop him , then Nelson better be ready to step up.

Whipple. Hopefully he can cure Frost of stupid play calls in the red zone.

Thompson. Hopefully he can avoid the patented Martinez game-killing turnovers.

Ha, I hope we can be excited about all of them. But we'll see how it goes once the season gets underway. There will be sleeper surprises and also those who disappoint - always are.

DL Mathis & Wynn two spots of need
WR Palmer can't have enough elite fast receivers
DB Hill could make up for some of the losses from 2021
QB Thompson could be a great pick up or we've all bought into fool's gold

The additions I'm most excited about are the new coaches added to the fold.
OC Whipple is better than Lubick
WR Joseph is better than Lubick
RB Applewhite is better than held
OL Raiola seems to be better than Austin but who wouldn't
DL Tuiota or Dawson I believe Tuiota is better
ST Busch is better than the combined staff project

My 2 as well. Thompson should be worth a 14 point swing.

1. ilb area of most concern for me. a madman or two with brains would be nice. the first step back philosphy hard to get excited about.
2. oline might be maybe. too much preseason hype and in season dissapointment from the past hearing nothing out of this group might be a good thing.

A lot of "hype" from some alleged insiders on other sites about Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda. This is a kid who scored 40 TDs as a senior in high school at 5'8 155. He then led all Cal JUCO WRs in total TDS with 17 in one season. He then foolishly signed with New Mexico State, right before the pandemic hit, after only year at the JUCO level. I saw foolishly because he was a full qualifier and could've waited for bigger offers.

NMSU went covid nuts and that meant he had no football activities, lifting, or practice for 15 months between December 2019 and April, 2021. Then after workouts for only a month, he was again unable to have weight room or practice access between May and August 2021. Despite that, he totals nearly 16yards per catch and 5 TDs for arguably the worst team in college football.

And in the 4 years since his senior year of high school, he's grown from 5'8 155 to now 6'0 210, while not losing a lick of speed. Minnesota, Utah, Arizona State, Miss State, and Texas Tech all wanted this kid before Nebraska grabbed him.

Here are his JUCO highlights from Saddleback. He is going to be a terrific change of pace weapon in Whipple's offense:

Mathis and Drew. We might have a pretty terrific DL front 4 if we go that way. Really looking forward to seeing disruption from Mathis and Nelson.

great post. I think he will be our most reliable target this year, especially on 3rd down.

California JC's are very good and Saddleback JC (South Orange County) has been pretty good with a few National championships. This kid looks very good and I hope he has a great career as a Husker. GBR!

After watching Ajay Allen's video over on HuskerMax I have to say I haven't seen quickness and cuts like that since M. Washington was in town. Ajay is now the one I'm most excited to see play and I think it could happen this year. Kid is going to be great and it doesn't look like he needs big holes in the line to open up for him to make big plays.

Pretty much agree on the coaches assessment.
