I wish Sip the best...Sam bagged on my hometown when he was working for the Daily Nebraskan. He can eat a bag of d***s.

Sip seems like a good, down to earth guy. He’s the people’s journalist.

Sam seems like a phony, corporate journalist that likes the smell of his own farts.

I think Sipple is going with Callahan and the others for the new recruiting site that is coming out. It'll be interesting to see how it competes as you already have this site as well as 247. Might be a bit too saturated.

I like Sipple. Always seemed like a genuinely good dude. I run into him around town at kids basketball games, used to see him lifting at the downtown Y. Since he has been on the radio he has turned into my favorite radio guy. He is a husker homer, yes, but so am I so I dont care.

So I have only heard him as a guest, when he hosts his own show is he sort of a slow deliberate talker?

I know one person in my friend group that still gets the newspaper.

That is it. Just one.
We used to get the OWH years ago and pretty much every day our newspaper would be in the bushes, neighbors yard, roof of my house, etc. We called and complained and they gave us a comp on our premium, but it still didn't get any better. One Sunday, our paper was at the end of the driveway and it was pouring rain and the paper wasn't in a bag and it was completely ruined. We cancelled and took the LJS instead. Same issue. Never knew where our paper would end up. Come to find out, the person who delivered our LJS was the same person that delivered the OWH. Laughing

I watched for the paper one morning and it was two dudes in a pickup truck driving up the street. One driving and one in the back chucking newspapers like they were feeding chickens. I then understood why my paper rarely ended up by my door.

well yeah, gas prices sure cutting into the profit margins. just put out a FJB sign in your front yard and they might serve your plastic wrapped paper on a silver platter

Newspapering is dead
Sadly you are probably right. I long for the days when somebody had to do some research and put some thought in to a column and then HAD to be responsible for what they reported as "news". We've got a bunch of political hacks out there masquerading as reporters on the net and TV. Sports reporters have turned in to a bunch of sensationalizing off the cuff shock jocks. Just give me the facts without all of your BS opinions and "insight". Now get off my lawn.

I miss those days when it was NEAR my front door in the morning so I could read it while drinking my coffee. Now it comes MAYBE sometime in the morning in my mailbox. Sometimes if it's a little snowy it might not make it all because Gannett is printing it remotely. F'n Gannett.

Paying for the printed paper is crazy expensive, but their online content isn't too bad.

I miss flipping the pages, but I like money in my pocket more

I still take the LJS and WSJ in hard copy every day. I will never not enjoy having breakfast with a newspaper in front of me. Our carrier does a nice job of getting it there everyday an on my doorstep.

Lol, think I’m one of the last on my street who still gets the OWH daily. No issues with my carrier, not sure how she does it though with current gas prices. I’ve tried to move to weekend only service, but they promise to keep me at the same price if I stay with 7day delivery. Not crazy about the digital version so see no benefit of that. My kids seldom if ever pay it any attention.

I used to deliver the super saver or something.. it was a non-collectable paper, so I never had to go door to door to collect money, I only was supposed to deliver.

I soon learned that if I went down the center of the street on my bicycle, I could toss them left and right fast enough to hit the driveways of most of the homes, the more down hill the street was, the worse the aim got towards the end, as I just couldn't keep up. Most of the papers were lucky to land near the street gutter by the time I was done with the route.

I was 7 years old maybe and I think I made something like $3.

Anyway, I think that is how it happens.. you are looking for a way to deliver as fast as possible so you can go about the rest of your day, and there was no incentive for customer service, so none was given I guess.

I can remember having to walk to the store to get the Tribune and Sun-Times for my parents every Sunday.

Then in HS, getting to study hall as fast as I could to get the Sun-Times and Tribune sports section.

Later, on Sundays, getting the OWH, coffee and a few donuts. Reading the sports, comics and looking at the jobs.

Remember applying for jobs by mail!?!?!

Considering all signs point to this site moving this site would not exist unless someone else moves their husker site to this platform.

Looks like it's about the same thing.
I think that's where the all signs point to" comes from. It says a well known husker site is moving there and won't be official till June. I'm sure its coincidence it looks exactly like this site and has the same forum names.
