Just to point out a misstatement of fact.

The #1 sport for boys in the state of Massachusetts, based on participation, is football followed by track and field. For the state of Nebraska, Track and Field is #1, followed by football. We are one of a few states in which football is not the #1 sport.

Population of Massachusetts is 5 million more people than our small population state. Some big time schools recruit to Massachusetts for some big time players.

Maybe consider fact checking yourself prior to posting your silly opinions. Just a thought.
If those are based on total # of kids, I assume you know how those numbers are skewed?

I didn't misstate any facts. Mass is not a football state.

despite the population/participation numbers you posted, which are neither here nor there to begin with, MA has 1 more player (10) in the NFL today than NE (9). why? because it's not a football state.

Too much population centralized in Lincoln and Omaha.

Edit: or lack of population in the rest of the state. Take your pick

LOL -- he is/was a back-up plan to the back-up plan to the back-up plan at both of those schools

he was light years from having a committable offer from either of those schools at the time of his commitment to Neb
Instead of just throwing crap against the wall, provide some proof. You'll get more cred that way.

I tend to agree with your statement here, I think most people want Flores because he’s the local kid, and word in the street is he’s the best QB prospect from the State since Crouch.

i think a lot of people still get caught up in not bringing in Burrow when we had the chance and they think every other Local non offer QB will turn out the same.

I also think that a few people are scratching their heads by the fact that we took the local kid last year but not offering Flores this year, personally that’s the only thing that confuses me with not offering Flores… I do think it’s bad business to not even offer one of the top QB prospects in a long time that’s from the state, you never want to burn those bridges, but we do have to make sure the QBs are the right fit for the scheme…

In the end I do wish Flores the best, unless he’s playing UNL, but I also wish Watson well too, hope Watson ends up being the better of the two but that’s only because he’s playing for UNL
About as tactful of a, 'Agree to Disagree' post I've ever read. Classful.

Scott never showed a bit of interest in Flores. That bridge was burned long before Whipple was a gleam in Scoot’s eye - so to speak. The blame falls squarely on Scott. Had Whipple gone all in on Flores as soon as he came in the door, he still wasn’t coming to DONU at that point. The damage was done. Zane might not have had any D1 offers yet then, but he had high level D1 coaches in his ear. My guess is question #1 Scott had when interviewing OCs was “Have you been recruiting a 2023 QB who will follow you here so you can save my *** from having ignored the best QB recruit out of this state in 20 years and having no other even comparable 2023 QB recruit?” Whipple said he did, so there’s your new OC.
OMG, you were the interview, too?

Because offers are self-reported, the onus certainly doesn’t fall on a message board poster

simply sharing my thoughts since you asked - and I know where I’d choose to play, all things being equal
For the record, by just doing a little homework, Watson was offered a scholarship by Michigan on May 18, 2020. That is not a misprint. 5/18/2020. Described as a Freshman Phenom.

I'm not sure why we are trashing anyone whether he is is coming to play, (Watson) or who might come back at some point(Flores)...young men.

According to my source, Massachusetts had 15 players that were born in Massachusetts that played in the NFL last year. Nebraska had 12.
The link I posted is from NFL communications, updated to the second.

whatever your source, it’s not as good as that.

You’re right. I said he peaked at 16 when clearly it was 14.5 or 15. Way off.
Not in this thread. If you said it, you must have posted it in another thread. In this thread you implied he didn’t have a Michigan offer when he in fact did have an offer. So you were way off.

My original statement is that he has offers from Michigan and Oregon. Which he does. BTW- Oregon must not have thought he peaked. I’m thinking it safe to believe they know more than you.

They both thought he peaked, otherwise they would have prioritized him instead of recruiting over him. Obviously.

I’d be willing to bet all of Watson’s meaningful reported offers came after one camp when he was 15. Which is the exact same thing as no offer at all if not followed up on.

He camped at Oregon in August, 2021.

No doubt about that. And another thing holding Watson back is the quality of competition that is played in western Massachusetts. Teams don't recruit there. But UMass does and Whipple knows that area well. He must have felt that what would be a great recruit for UMass would also be a pretty good prospect at a Pitt or NU.
