I, personally, think it would be wiser to look at a kid who's lower rated and lives 1,000+ miles away in a non-football state

that's just my and Scott Frost's opinion, though

I am hearing some very distressing reports regarding the legitimacy of Watson's other power 5 offers

very distressing indeed

Lower rated?

But let's just ignore offers, ratings, and talent and offer the kid that lives down the road because we know his Pa.

posts like this are just sad.

Flores will lap Watson by mid October in every meaningful recruiting metric, and everyone on the planet knows it.

That's just silly, you only want the kid because he lives down the road, and that is no way to pick your class QB. And it's unfair to Watson to trash him because he isn't from Nebraska.

I tend to agree with your statement here, I think most people want Flores because he’s the local kid, and word in the street is he’s the best QB prospect from the State since Crouch.

i think a lot of people still get caught up in not bringing in Burrow when we had the chance and they think every other Local non offer QB will turn out the same.

I also think that a few people are scratching their heads by the fact that we took the local kid last year but not offering Flores this year, personally that’s the only thing that confuses me with not offering Flores… I do think it’s bad business to not even offer one of the top QB prospects in a long time that’s from the state, you never want to burn those bridges, but we do have to make sure the QBs are the right fit for the scheme…

In the end I do wish Flores the best, unless he’s playing UNL, but I also wish Watson well too, hope Watson ends up being the better of the two but that’s only because he’s playing for UNL

Whipple is the QB coach and the OC. From what I understand, he's been recruiting Watson since he was HC at UMass and their relationship goes back 6 years. Maybe we should let Whipple choose the QBs that he thinks are a good fit for his offense.

will someone brief us on the QB recruits that Mr Whipple has identified and recruited as opposed to those he inherited and gravy trained the talents that someone else identified and recruited to the next payday

So it's a gravy train and no development with Whipple. The changes on offense were made for these reasons. We had a QB Frost and the former staff identified. Not much development there. Didn't work out so well. Unfortunately Frost is at a point he has to hope and pray Whipple can identify and develop the guys he thinks will have success.

i can think of a couple qbs that could move on to where they could actually play competivly. room to offer both then. with big 10 tv money it no longer matters a lot what memorial stadium draws to lincoln. it has just become a social event and tv money. oh well

I'm not trashing Watson because he's not from Nebraska, I'm trashing him because he's small and plays in a lacrosse state where nobody cares about football.

he looks like a worse version of Smothers, whereas Flores looks like all the quarterbacks who beat us like a rented mule week after week.

scott frost has done precisely nothing during his tenure to to earn the benefit of the doubt when it comes to questionable decisions, so I'll assume he's wrong yet again on this one.

Michigan and Oregon both thought that Watson was good enough to offer a scholarship. Sell me on the idea that you’re some sort of expert.

Just for context:
247 rates (not composite) Flores as 87 and Watson as 86.
Offer lists seem vaguely similar, depending on what’s committable, etc.

Regardless of anyone’s feelings, it will be interesting to watch both careers unfold. No one has a crystal ball. I hope both do well, with Watson “proving coaches right” so to speak with a more stellar career.

Maybe not practical, but I would have preferred we offered Flores as QB2 after Watson committed. The position is too important (and too fluid) to not invest 2 spots on it.

And none of it will matter when Dylan Raiola shows up spring of 2024 and becomes starter day one, throws for an eye-popping 57 TDs vs 6 INTs as a true frosh on his way to a Heisman.
And we all live happily ever after.

I’d wager they didn’t truly offer him, hence his commitment to us and our insanely uncertain coaching future

That’s pretty weak with they didn’t offer narrative. The onus is on you to prove it didn’t happen.

He committed to UNL due to his relationship with Whipple.

I would say the main difference between HH getting an offer and Flores not getting one is that HH was a backup plan and got his offer after we lost out on our top recruits.

I also am not worried about burning bridges at the HS of Janovich and Stolenberg. Nebraska nad Gretna have been good to each other over the years, even if Flores isn't our class QB.

LOL -- he is/was a back-up plan to the back-up plan to the back-up plan at both of those schools

he was light years from having a committable offer from either of those schools at the time of his commitment to Neb

Because offers are self-reported, the onus certainly doesn’t fall on a message board poster

simply sharing my thoughts since you asked - and I know where I’d choose to play, all things being equal

Scott never showed a bit of interest in Flores. That bridge was burned long before Whipple was a gleam in Scoot’s eye - so to speak. The blame falls squarely on Scott. Had Whipple gone all in on Flores as soon as he came in the door, he still wasn’t coming to DONU at that point. The damage was done. Zane might not have had any D1 offers yet then, but he had high level D1 coaches in his ear. My guess is question #1 Scott had when interviewing OCs was “Have you been recruiting a 2023 QB who will follow you here so you can save my *** from having ignored the best QB recruit out of this state in 20 years and having no other even comparable 2023 QB recruit?” Whipple said he did, so there’s your new OC.

Do you know the family? Unless you know the family, how can you know if Whipple came knocking he wouldn’t open the door?

I am sorry you find these facts to be detrimental to your well being .. it is truly regrettable

might I suggest logging off for a period and focusing on some self care

Your obsession is sad and pathetic. Plus, you aren’t any good at this. Better luck with the next account.

Just to point out a misstatement of fact.

The #1 sport for boys in the state of Massachusetts, based on participation, is football followed by track and field. For the state of Nebraska, Track and Field is #1, followed by football. We are one of a few states in which football is not the #1 sport.

Population of Massachusetts is 5 million more people than our small population state. Some big time schools recruit to Massachusetts for some big time players.

Maybe consider fact checking yourself prior to posting your silly opinions. Just a thought.
