Everyone wants to have more “bagmen”…

Now you have a chance for $250 a month. Probably would go with the N Trench - everything is won in the trench.

Newp. I think my charity dollars will be sent to people who are truly in need.
No one said it was charity. It’s entertainment. So stop trying to play it off as something it’s not. Good for you if your dollar only goes towards to needs and the rest to charity. But since you are typing on a chat board, I’m guessing you spend some money on entertainment.

bottom line, we didn’t need your pretentious *** response. Don’t contribute. But STFU

C'mon. It's easy to criticize "diehard Husker fans" who had the privilege of being entertained "for free" by the Devaney and Osborne teams. Many of these folks fail to see that in today's world, entertainers no longer work "for free." Even if you feel you're entitled a certain level of "free" entertainment.

At least we can freely ridicule them now for failing instead of being called a pos for ragging on "college kids who put their body on the line for our entertainment". I mean I have better things to do with my time than allowing myself to get mad over an overpaid lineman for allowing a sack, but it sure will be funny when this gets to the point where teams are cutting players mid-season for not performing well

Four straight losing seasons. Stuck in 10th place in a 14 team conference.

To use a play on words, as Joaquin Phoenix said in Gladiator, "Are you not entertained?"

Husker fans have sold out Memorial Stadium for every game Frost coached.
By rights, the place should be half empty.

I'm laughing at the irony of a NIL donation appeal on the board for "the poors"

You're preaching to the folks who can't or are unwilling to even pony up $9.95 a month. The ultimate group of bandwagon fans.
Could be.

Some of us balk at the idea of being talked down to for $9.95 a month when you can get that pretty much anywhere (like here) for free.

Exactly. Let’s lay on a kid for losing a game, a kid who wakes up every dam morning at 4:30 am to go to practice and goes to bed at 8:00 pm a night, basically ignoring a social life for the game we enjoy so much. But the minute we can actually do something for that kid, Let’s ignore it. Crap if your broke, no one’s asking you to sacrifice. But if you can afford it, how bout just giving a few bucks

or if you can afford it and are just to cheap to give something at least STFU about your righteousness

Holy hell, drama queens. Ignoring a social life? Yeah. Holding on a little too tight there my man.

Do other for-profits post on here?

I'd be interested in seeing how much of the investment goes into a kids bank account. Articles of $850k being paid out, how much had been raised? 50% going to the kids, maybe less?

Maybe you can start a nonprofit for these kids who are gifted (not in the way a normal nonprofit would define it) and who struggle with being popular and who get free **** all of the time and eat better than 98% of the world while having to exercise and practice and play games during college.

You've drank way too much of the NCAA cool aid over the years if you think the lives of big time football players are truly as miserable as you make them out to be.

Movies not my strong suit. I do remember Joaquin said, "Am I not merciful?"

Only movies I've been to in 30 years are 1990 Pretty Woman with my wife, and 16 years ago for Talladega Nights with my son, because he's friends with Sasha Cohen Baron.

Good catch Lincoln! And it's CrowE, with an e. lol

Ok MR know it all smarty pants, keep telling yourself it’s all fraud so you can justify being cheap…

If this is a 501(C)3, 5500s are public knowledge. It’s a requirement on the 5500 to report the 10 highest compensated individuals and all compensation to board members. All financial data will be public record.

But if it’s not a 501(C)3, and it may be very difficult to get 501(C)3 status as this is entertainment and not a charitable cause. If you donate you can request financials and with this type of money, I bet they have a board. The board will require audits. Auditors will report if the companies mission is being abused. So if you are worried about abuse, feel free to give it a year or contact them to see how you can make sure your contribution is being used correctly

Furthermore, when it’s been reported that only 50% of the contributions have been paid out to players don’t assume that only 50% means it’s shady. Part of what’s been contributed likely is an endowment or even partially restricted funds. You know you can do that right? Earmark your contribution.

But if you want to act like this is obviously something someone is abusing, if that helps you sleep at night, have at it

NU needs to create something like the "stock sales" of the Green Bay Packers. The Packers shares are essentially worthless, but I'd expect them to be slightly more tangible "ownership" to the average Husker fan.

I'm old enough to remember when an additional 5-cent cigarette tax in the 70s's funded the construction of the Bob Devaney Center. My grandfather always said he personally paid for a row of seats.
And that’s when my grandpa quit smoking. He wasn’t going to pay for an arena!

Not giving to this for-profit is being cheap? Ha! okay. The suggestion of starting a non-profit was sarcasm, taking a shot at you about your concern about how hard life is on D1 athletes (it's not). Sounds like you got it all figured out . . . a privately held company, that might have a board (which usually consists of the owners or buddies of the owners) that may "audit" themselves to make sure that they are doing everything okay. I'm sure the owners will be terribly concerned about how the review of the financials turns out. Abusing? No idea, but the guys who own ABM have plenty of money, and are making plenty of money, they don't need mine, and they seem to have plenty of financial support coming from you and others, and you can feel better about yourselves for helping out to alleviate the suffering of our athletes.

At no point in time does an athlete have it better than their time while in college

Even paid millions there are things you have to do as an adult that they don't deal with.

There is nothing special about those hours. Those are my hours, been doing it that way for years, and it's no different than somebody else's 8:30am -Midnight. I stack my quiet time in the early morning, others stack them at night.

And your not an 18 year old kid passing up frat parties full of jersey chasers. Yes we all have responsibilities because life requires them. Our families require them. But these kids do these for us. They could live a life of carefree partying but don’t

Everybody sacrifices for what they want to do, the work that they put in.

Athletes don't have to sacrifice any social life. All you got to do is show up on a Saturday night & be a member of the team, and you're gonna get taken care of. Trust me.

LOL. OMG. This is so mid. That's great, but "getting top recruits to Lincoln" wasn't your play before, before it was all about how difficult college is for these D1 athletes. Now it is about getting top recruits to Lincoln? Yeah, thanks for your contribution, I just don't know how I would make it through life without getting the top recruits to Lincoln. You are a true fan.
