Frost used the word "expectations" several times referencing new coaches and players. Hopefully he can point the thumb when using that word as well.
I wished he would have not brought the whole staff from UCF, but at the time who cou argue when they went unbeaten before coming to Lincoln..Am I the only person to wonder what took this long to make these changes on the staff? Now, of course, we need to see the results. We have heard many of these same lines before.
Which is why Florida passed on Frost. They were adamant that he not bring that whole staff with him. He was determined to keep them together.I wished he would have not brought the whole staff from UCF, but at the time who cou argue when they went unbeaten before coming to Lincoln..
“Loyalty to a fault”Which is why Florida passed on Frost. They were adamant that he not bring that whole staff with him. He was determined to keep them together.

Hmm wasn't there several on here this winter stating he's not gonna see the field??In all of this I think the most important thing is the apparent emergence of Polar Bear. I think our offense will be much better this year and we certainly have skill and talent at linebacker and in the secondary. The huge glaring weakness coming into spring camp is the lack of proven difference makers on the defensive line and the lack of depth on that line. Ty Robinson is steady and reliable but not spectacular and he has been out leveraged quite often at the point of attack. We really need Polar Bear to emerge as a force on the line. If we can find a way to play well on the defensive line this year then winning the West is definitely possible.
Which is why we have been in more than two decades of Nebraska football purgatory because Tom Osborne was loyal to Frank Solich rather than letting Bill Byrne conduct a national search for the best available coach to lead the Cornhuskers. Not that Frank was bad, but we were riding high after 1997 and could have done much better than Solich. Loyalty works when you buy a crescent wrench from the local hardware guy for a dollar more than Wal Mart, but when it comes to a major commodity like Nebraska football, the good ole boy network is not advisable.“Loyalty to a fault”
He had to give it a try and he also had to break it it up.“Loyalty to a fault”
Still needs to learn how to use his strength as a DL.Hmm wasn't there several on here this winter stating he's not gonna see the field??
Next time your giving money away like that contact me.I will not buy into the hype this year. I was pumped last year and bet $500 we'd win the west and knew it was a loss after the first half of the IL game.
Having a bad head coach.Am I the only person to wonder what took this long to make these changes on the staff? Now, of course, we need to see the results. We have heard many of these same lines before.
Sounds like a leader and a man of character. It took a change in Athletic Director. Frost knew Moos wasn't going to fire him, so he didn't have much urgency.
with a heavy dose of arrogance and naivety mixed in.“Loyalty to a fault”
He wasnt wrong on part of that. They definitely surprised some people. I mean most of those people were Husker fans and were surprised how bad they were but come on...they did surprise us.Lol.. yeah and can't wait for the "We're gonna surprise some people this year" or "We're light years ahead of last year" ... blah, blah, blah.. if you have time to play video games, you didn't do enough work.
Me either, but I'll bet 250 they win the west.I will not buy into the hype this year. I was pumped last year and bet $500 we'd win the west and knew it was a loss after the first half of the IL game.
Last year my boss wanted to bet me so bad, I ended up giving in. We did total W-L, and individual game W-L. He said we would win 9. Trying to be positive I said we would win 7. But even as I went down the schedule, I could only see a few games I felt confident about.I will not buy into the hype this year. Last year, a more disciplined team with sound special teams play wins the following games that were losses: Illinois, Michigan State, Purdue and Iowa. Seven wins.Last year my boss wanted to bet me so bad, I ended up giving in. We did total W-L, and individual game W-L. He said we would win 9. Trying to be positive I said we would win 7. As much of a Husker as I am, betting on them to win is too crazy, and that’s being nice.
damn. this reminder just hit me hard. florida knew and we didn't.Which is why Florida passed on Frost. They were adamant that he not bring that whole staff with him. He was determined to keep them together.
I hate this "I heard" stuff and rehashing the past that becomes a mish-mash of internet drama But did the Florida jig even get far enough for Frost to talk about assistants? It was my understanding, after the initial interview, he wasn't even in the mix. Could be that the subject of assistants came up then but it seems from reports he didn't impress the higher ups to even go to step 2. What am I missing?Which is why Florida passed on Frost. When Frost was hired, the concern was not about the offensive assistants, but whether Chin and his guys could get it done. So just about everyone had this thing upside down. What worked for UCF under Frost in the American hasn't worked consistently in the B1G. But is that due to Frost's system? Or has the problem been how the players were coached within the system?I hate this "I heard" stuff and rehashing the past that becomes a mish-mash of internet drama But did the Florida jig even get far enough for Frost to talk about assistants? I agree. I just hadn’t seen a disciplined team in a long time.Last year, a more disciplined team with sound special teams play wins the following games that were losses: Illinois, Michigan State, Purdue and Iowa. Seven wins.
Not quite true, I will search for the article I read about the search. But my memory is pretty clear, they went hard after Kelly, when Kelly said no, then they met with Frost on the phone, Frost said in the interview that he wanted to bring his whole staff with him, Florida said they didn't like that idea, they made an agreement to talk after the UCF/USF game. At that point they were down to Mullen and Frost. Mullen was going to interview for the Tennessee job and the AD at Florida delivered a message to Mullen to not take the job yet, he would know more on Saturday. On that Saturday, the one after the USF game, they talked more to Frost about the job, again they discussed him not bringing the whole staff, Frost said he needed to end the call, but he would call back after his staff meeting. He never called back and Florida called Mullen and hammered out a deal.UF got bitched by Chip
They called Frost, Frost said he would call them back and never did.
UF tried to save face with some lame "Yeah we talked to him and were not that impressed" stuff...of course they weren't impressed because Frost wasn't interested.
Then they hired DM and canned him.
see my post above this one. But they didn't give up on him after the first interview. There is a quote from someone in the search committee that went something like, Frost said he would call us back after the staff meeting, we are still waiting for that call.I hate this "I heard" stuff and rehashing the past that becomes a mish-mash of internet drama But did the Florida jig even get far enough for Frost to talk about assistants? I remember reading that article as well. There are a ton if ways it could all be taken. Frost saying saying he would like to bring his entire staff doesn't necessarily imply that was a deal breaker. It could mean I would like to bring my staff if they want to come. To my understanding, most Colleges allow the HC to make the call on his assistants. See June Jones recent remarks. They could very well have had concerns about some of the staff which I would have as well.see my post above this one. But they didn't give up on him after the first interview. Im assuming Frost had already decided he was going to Nebraska or that he didn’t want to go to Florida and stay at UCF if he wasn’t offered the Nebraska job.I remember reading that article as well. As to the returning the call deal, Frost apparently didn't call and they apparently didn't call them back either which says something.
When I wanted a certain coach or teacher I sure didn't wait around for the phone to ring unless I really hoped I didn't hear from a certain person which happened often.
It's a given.I haven't heard about the most pressing issue...are they moving around well?
It is odd because statistically it did work pretty well but it also didn't seem to work.Pretty clear that Frost’s offensive staff didn’t work in Lincoln. But maybe the group would have clicked in Gainesville.
