Did you read the article? It says they aren’t testing during the lockout. They’ll obviously get back to testing after it ends.Got the cbs article linked, for some reason it won't link up to bleacher report.

Sure, but you can't really test players for drugs when they are locked out. Same happened with the NFL and NHL.Yes but from what I understood the testing requirement expired and they did not reinstate it. Players can be juicing up now and give themselves enough time to get clean if they announce they will reinstate the testing requirement.
Seems far fetched. I’m not sure either side would be in favor of it.It will depend on how the CBA turns out.
At the upper levels I bet almost everyone cheats, just depends on much performance they need vs the risk level you take. You can get designer drugs that are not able to be tested yet or bioidentical to the stuff thats in your body so it is virtually impossible to detect. I think the players that are on the fringe of making the team will use more and might not have access to the best stuff. There's also stem cells that improve performance and dramatically decrease healing time, and is unable to be tested.Seems far fetched. I’m not sure either side would be in favor of it.
What percent of players would actually take steroids if they could get away with it? And more importantly, how many of those guys would say out loud that they don’t want testing? That’s basically admission that they juice or at least would juice if they could.
Agree with you. I love baseball but the game has been almost unwatchable for the past 10-12 years.I love baseball, but steroids are part of what I hate about it at times. The fixation on homers. Strikeouts at an all time high. MLB games are almost unwatchable with the lack of action. Swing and miss, walks, K’s and a couple homers is not my idea of a fun game.
I walked away from the game during the McGwire/Sosa years and haven't been back since.I love baseball, but steroids are part of what I hate about it at times. The fixation on homers. I did hate the Sosa and Mark era. I posted before I seen your message.Yeah, America hated it when Sosa and Mark were battling for the HR crown.
It was so boring!
I want to see a slappy hit to the opposite field, followed by a bunt...followed by a 12 pitch at bat that ends with advancing the runner to 3rd with two outs and then a shallow popfly for the 3rd out and no runs.
I'm biased as a Royals fan, but the Royals teams from '13-'15 were the most fun teams to watch of the last 20 years. Didn't hit homers, put the ball in play at a high rate, stole bases and played great defense.Agree with you. I love baseball but the game has been almost unwatchable for the past 10-12 years.
The only MLB games I ever watched were the Royals, just LOVED the style they played in the one World Series that I watched. It was so much different in style that it just make it fun to watch how they did unconventional "baseball" at the Major League level, yet making it work.I'm biased as a Royals fan, but the Royals teams from '13-'15 were the most fun teams to watch of the last 20 years. Didn't hit homers, put the ball in play at a high rate, stole bases and played great defense.
The year McGuire hit 70 homers he struck out like 150 times. Ohtani struck out 189 times last year and they act like he's the best thing since Babe Ruth. Joey Gallo? 213 K's last season. McGuire and Sosa couldn't hold a candle to the strikeout numbers that today's hacks are putting up. Home runs have always been an exciting part of the game, but yeah, I think there's more to the game and today's version is boring.Yeah, America hated it when Sosa and Mark were battling for the HR crown.

Agreed. I didn't mean all teams are unwatchable just that the game, as a whole, is not as easy to watch.I'm biased as a Royals fan, but the Royals teams from '13-'15 were the most fun teams to watch of the last 20 years. Didn't hit homers, put the ball in play at a high rate, stole bases and played great defense.
In the real world, a guy with 189 or 213K's, would be about a #6 hitter in my lineup. Either they don't know the strike zone, refuse to walk or no one has ever charted their at-bats to see how they fare with different pitch counts. The year McGuire hit 70 homers he struck out like 150 times. Ohtani struck out 189 times last year and they act like he's the best thing since Babe Ruth. Joey Gallo? 213 K's last season. Saying this as an admittedly pretentious baseball fan, that’s exciting for people who understand the game at a surface level. There’s way more to the game than muscling a ball out of the park.Yeah, America hated it when Sosa and Mark were battling for the HR crown.

I can't even argue this because of the way you prefaced it!Saying this as an admittedly pretentious baseball fan, that’s exciting for people who understand the game at a surface level. There’s way more to the game than muscling a ball out of the park.
Baseball is at its best when it’s a chess match, which is why the (former) NL game is better.
Would chess be more exciting if every time you took out one of my pawns you’d get to sucker punch me in the face? Sure, it’d probably get more viewers. But that wouldn’t be chess, and the people who love chess for what it is would be upset. Not everything has to be about drawing in surface level fans just for a few more bucks.
I'd watch full contact chess!Saying this as an admittedly pretentious baseball fan, that’s exciting for people who understand the game at a surface level. There’s way more to the game than muscling a ball out of the park.

NO.So let's just say they don't reinstate it. Do the players who've been black balled for juicing become eligible for hall of fame?
Yese and they should already be in.So let's just say they don't reinstate it. Do the players who've been black balled for juicing become eligible for hall of fame?
Seems to me if you were a formal major league star, or you are one of the voting members, and know that virtually all members in the HOF made it on their own merit, then I doubt any of the cheaters are gonna get in.They're not going to leave PED's open for abuse. I doubt most of the rank and file MLBPA members would want that.
Gotta anticipate the rebuttals and get out ahead of them lolI can't even argue this because of the way you prefaced it!
Good work!
A whole bunch......just like last time.Seems far fetched. I’m not sure either side would be in favor of it.

That’s still their MO. It’s a big ballpark so they have to play that way. I’m a Royals fan, too. So I agree with you.I'm biased as a Royals fan, but the Royals teams from '13-'15 were the most fun teams to watch of the last 20 years. Didn't hit homers, put the ball in play at a high rate, stole bases and played great defense.
No, but some of them they may be thinking about making a comeback now.So let's just say they don't reinstate it. Do the players who've been black balled for juicing become eligible for hall of fame?
