I don't know the history. Was Pickett his hand picked QB recruit at Pitt? Why is it his Amart and not his Pickett?
I don’t believe Whipple recruited Pickett - Pickett was already at Pitt when Whipple arrived.I don't know the history. Was Pickett his hand picked QB recruit at Pitt?

Not if he's his AmartNot too worried as he also has to beat out Purdy and Haarberg - and Torres.

Watson had offers from Tennessee, Michigan, Pitt and Oregon. He was the Massachusetts Player Of The Year. As a true freshman he threw for 2800 yards, 31 TDs and ran for 7 more TDs and won a state championship.Says you
Nice evidence! Whip should know better than Harry Potter.Watson had offers from Tennessee, Michigan, Pitt and Oregon. He was the Massachusetts Player Of The Year. As a true freshman he threw for 2800 yards, 31 TDs and ran for 7 more TDs and won a state championship.
Best line Switzer every said, "Tom Osborne could take his players beat you with them and then take your players and beat you with your own." Whipple is a good coach and he'll make our QBs better whether he recruited them or not. His resume working with young QBs is outstanding. I'll add that Whipple had multiple QBs on his roster that he recruited and he still played Pickett. Was he a bad recruiter or just too smart to be loyal to a young QB that he recruited?I don’t believe Whipple recruited Pickett - Pickett was already at Pitt when Whipple arrived.
I believe given Whipple's resume that Frost is going to get out his way and let him coach. I believe this is a great situation for Frost and the Huskers but we'll see.Whipple never had to work for Frost before. Remains to be seen if Frost can actually be a true leader and let his assistants coach!
That original line was spoken about several other coaches prior to Osborne.Best line Switzer every said, "Tom Osborne could take his players beat you with them and then take your players and beat you with your own." Agreed 100 %I believe given Whipple's resume that Frost is going to get out his way and let him coach. I believe this is a great situation for Frost and the Huskers but we'll see.
He’d be a fool not to. And from what I’ve read, Whipple doesn’t let the ideology of an offensive system get in the way of trying to win games. I doubt he’ll cast out all of Frosts playbook.I believe given Whipple's resume that Frost is going to get out his way and let him coach. He's said he'll integrate the plays and terminology but he also said that the routes and reads will change. My expectation is that there will be less "option" routes and more WCO routes. Somebody with a more detailed understanding on Whipples past offense at Pitt should probably comment. He’d be a fool not to. Think of all the great coaches that only won 1/3 of their games in their first few years of coaching that magically transformed into great managers…Whipple never had to work for Frost before. Remains to be seen if Frost can actually be a true leader and let his assistants coach!
