Kinda feel for Simmons, Embiid seems like a giant dick to me. I find Simmons to be a decent guy who's struggling with some inner demons in an organization that kind of **** on him. Embiid is about as likable as the flu IMO. I hope Ben has huge success in Brooklyn and advances farther in the playoffs than the Sixers.

It's a fun debate. I have no sympathy for Simmons, other than whatever mental health struggles he might be having. His performance against the Hawks in the playoffs last year was crazy. He was literally scared to shoot, and got a lot of heat from his team and the media. Instead of fixing his flaw he got his feelings hurt and demanded a trade. Don't like it. It's probably just one of those situation where Simmons and Embiid truly hate each other and that's all there is to it.

That's just it for me though. Seems like something isn't quite right with him. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good, but Brooklyn with Kyrie and Durant might not be any better. Impossible to like either of those two.

Simmons has a legitimate gripe though. He got a ton of heat and that had lasting effects on his motivation to play for the franchise. That's not surprising, and I don't blame him for that. I'm usually not a fan of players demanding a trade, but when the franchise is desperate to pimp you out for pennies on the dollar, I think that's one situation it's warranted.

An NBA wonk on Fox radio was saying this afternoon that legitimate title contenders like the Heat and Bucks must be licking their chops to play either one of the Sixers or the Nets. Any criticism I have for Simmons goes at least equally for Harden. Had to laugh at Stephen A. Smith asking today if a trade was going to magically make Harden not fat anymore?

When a guy takes 4 shots in a game 7 and passes up a wide open dunk he's going to get a ton of heat. When Doc was asked if he could win a championship with Simmons at point he should have said "yes" no matter how he felt in the moment. It was dumb for him to throw Simmons under the bus.

The report says it all. Living in the Philadelphia media market is rough when you show our fans you don’t want to put in the work. At 6’10” he was asked to develop a mid range jump shot which is 8’ to 16’, was given all the advantages to do so but chose to jetset with the Kardashians and post IG’s of him spending money and buying a car every month. He’s a pvssy entitled underachiever, full stop.

Simmons is a quitter, nothing more needs to be said. A guy who quits
on his team is worthless.

I live in Philly. Not much sympathy for Ben.

He’s a paid professional who has failed to step up and expand his game to be better. Then he gets his ego bruised and decides not to play.

Embiid carries the team and Ben chose not to contribute. Now that he’s with the Nets, he’s suddenly mentally healthy.

Between the 76 sixers themselves, who tanked for 5 straight years and ended up with Embiid, and the Philly fan base, Embiid himself, and Ben Simmons, I find Simmons the most likable of the bunch but that's not saying that much. I ain't dying on any hill to defend him, but the organization didn't do him any favors either, and Harden?? Hahahaha.

Yeah no love for simmons. He is probably the one guy who will make me cheer for harden. Simmons is a punk and a disgrace for what he did this season. Mental health is real, but it isnt an excuse to just quit. Kevin love has documented bad mental health problems yet he has balled out and helped the cavs have a great season

Yep, the second any adversity hits, he quits. He's done it his entire career. Not to mention, the only time he made a finals appearance, it was as the 6th man for a KD-Westbrook-Serge Ibaka led team where Harden played horrible in the finals. Look at all the great players Harden has played with and he's won nothing of substance. Arguably had more individually talented teammates over the course of his career than any other guy in the league and yet won nothing.

Truthfully, Simmons and Harden belong together on the same team. That said, I think Simmons in Brooklyn will work out better than Harden in Philly. Only a matter of time before Harden sees it isn't easy and quits again.

I'm not sure what the Sixers organization "did to Simmons."

Asked him to develop and attempt a three-point shot like every other great player in the league?

Encouraged him to be aggressive and finish strong in the playoffs a year ago like you'd expect from a guy making $35M a year.

Expected him to respond to passive criticism from Doc Rivers with a desire to be a better player and teammate instead of sulking and feeling insulted? Hell, Bruce Arians says worse things to Tom Brady every week and all he does is strap it up and play. No whining from the GOAT. But Ben Simmons can't bring himself to practice?

So, I'm clearly no Simmons fan, nor a fan of Harden. I don't like any guys that hold their teams hostage when they're being paid to deliver results and win games. That's probably why I'm no fan of the NBA. :)

The whole city of Philadelphia and the franchise casted him out as trade bait for months. This isn't the typical spoiled rich athlete refuses to play. The franchise shat all over him for months. Simmons has a damn good reason not to want to play for that franchise.

He skipped camp and decided not to play because his feelings were hurt from the prior year. Are fans supposed to applaud that?

The people who know Simmons best, his teammates, all viewed him as a sulking baby because he wouldn’t interact or play. Not one of them had his back publicly, that’s telling.

That’s how you become trade bait, not because fans are bad and force you out. But let’s be clear, PHL fans also are bad.

Yeah........... That's what franchises do to their best players who are laying it all out on the line every night.

Dangle them for trade bait until they can finally find someone desperate enough to take them.

Two years from now the take will be "Boy, Brooklyn really **** all over Ben Simmons. Those fans were really mean to him over the 9 games he played there"

He had very good reason for that. You get shat on enough by anybody and everybody within an organization, and yeah you're not going to feel like performing for them. Philadelphia fans are terrible, probably the worst in the country. They finally get what they had coming to them, and I like the 76er's.

That's exactly what happened. Philadelphia lost a playoff game, they overreacted and everybody jumped on Simmons for months, and then they're surprised why the guy wouldn't want to play for them. I wouldn't want to perform in front of a **** organization like that either.

Are you serious? He wasnt trade bait. He flat out refused to play for them because he got his feelings hurt. It was him who was demanding a trade. At least other players who want out still go and play before that. Simmons makes cheering against brooklyn pretty easy now

This is completely false. The 76er's were trying to pimp him out in any and every deal they possibly could. The message was very clear the 76er's didn't want him. Why would you have so little respect for yourself that you would play for an organization like that?

We apparently must agree to disagree, but there’s a compelling reason he should’ve been playing. Simmons is a professional being paid tens of millions to show up and produce, even when people aren’t always nice. He’s not some kid on the freshman team in high school who can just check out because someone bruised his self esteem.

What’s your evidence that the Sixers were trying to get rid of him? I live in S. Jersey and we got the straight story, everyday. Here are the facts, 1) Simmons couldn’t deal with Jimmy Butler holding him accountable and the Sixers caved to his wishes and released Butler, kept Simmons. 2) HC Bret Brown was pulling hard for Simmons and ultimately Brown was let go. 3) Simmons was asked to get shooting instructions from professionals, at the Sixers expense, Simmons chose his brother who has ZERO credentials. 4) To all that think Embiid is a dyck, he personally was reaching out to him, stood at half court and asked the Sixers fans to support him because “he’s still our brother”. Lastly all that think Philadelphia is so terrible to play in, and the fans are so bad, go to YouTube and pull up “Jason Kelce talks accountability, playing in Philadelphia”, then you’ll understand,
