K-State's offense under Courtney Messingham was truly awful, and still, they went to a bowl game, beat LSU, and finished with 8 wins. Messingham was canned. Collin Klein took that role for good reason. Collin will be the head coach here at some point.

In any case, it will be interesting to see how Martinez does at KSU. He undoubtedly will get better coaching. I'm not sure he will be surrounded by overall better talent, but he will certainly be surrounded by teammates that are better coached.

The determining factor will be whether he cuts down on the game-changing, back-breaking, catastrophic errors that surfaced nearly every game. That, and whether he can finally break through and make a play to win an important game, instead of fumbling or throwing a pick. Maybe that is the same thing.

I'm curious as to why they want to take on our failures. AM never won at Nebraska and he's coming in injured. That's the formula for success.

The injury is problematic. But Skylar Thompson was similarly hurt and had a solid senior year. He didn't practice during the spring either. But he did well, did well last night in the East-West Shrine Game, and has an NFL Combine invite.

Klein obviously sees in AMart a fit for K-State's system or he wouldn't have gone after him. It's really that simple.

Coaches always feel they can do things with talent that didn't achieve expectations at the other place. That just who they are. This may or may not be a case in point. We'll see this fall if Klein or N was correct.

Whether he had one second or 5 seconds to pass the ball, it didn't matter. He couldn't read defenses and didn't trust himself. He knew his lack of accuracy and slow decision making were the recipe for interceptions.

Scott Frost has been tied to one loser quarterback for his entire tenure here. It should have cost him his job. But now that we've got some real quarterback talent in the room, this offense will start to be functional. i predict amart stars at k-state surrounded by an all-american running back in deuce vaughn, solid receivers, and a sound offensive line, something gone-wanting in lincoln. this is his last shot. he will be in a pro-style system playing for coaches, fans, and teammates who want him to succeed. we'll see who is correct come fall. given what I've seen of him, i'm sure all but the lowest of N fans will want to see him succeed here.

I don't think, but could be wrong, that am will participate in spring ball. I'm sure their QB coach is better than what we had, but it would be nothing short of a miracle they get his deficiencies fixed to be "the guy "
