Sad to see. He seemed like someone that would have been fun to be around no matter where you were. Prayers for his family and friends.

This one stings. Nothing better than blowing down the highway with windows down, sunroof open and blasting Bat Out Of Hell on a warm spring day --- undoubtedly the 20 somethings are staring at me thinking turn the page old man

In before the thread is locked.

Bat out of Hell was one of the biggest albums of all time. (Much credit to Jim Steinman as well.)

Ain't no Coupe deVille hidin at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box.

Guy was awesome. One of a handful of concerts I kick myself for not going to.

Him and John Travolta have to be the two dudes that had the biggest ever second chance huge careers in the arts, right?

I was a part-time stagehand in the mid/late 70s.

Rarely interacted with the bands, but most were okay. Aerosmith was all jerks.

Meatloaf and Jackson Browne were class acts. Both made a point to speak to the stagehands. Very cool dudes.

This one is a cultural loss.

Was just listening to the Loadout / Stay (the "Roadie's Song") last week. In one video, a roadie is taking down the set, packing away guitars and cables. The drummer bangs away on cardboard boxes. And the roadie is invited to sing the falsetto, "O won't you stay..." Good stuff!

Not sure how it worked in other cities but we were never allowed to touch the band's instruments.

Not surprised to hear that about Aerosmith.

I almost lost my job when I told the cops that the road manager for Aerosmith had arranged for three girls (around 13 y/o) to be taken back to the Red Lion for the group's pleasure. Aerosmith's road manager told the union business agent that either I was fired or Aerosmith would never come back to Omaha. The union business agent told him to get fvcked. I wasn't there for the discussion but that's what I was told later.

One of the very best voices in American rock n' roll history. An outcast that truly came from the ashes of despair.

RIP
