Another RB? Sign him up!

I am not convinced that Stepp or Yant are a #1 or even 2 back… Ervin is coming off injury and Ramir is decent but not built to carry the load for a full year. We need RBs

Doesn't hurt that he's from Louisiana with Mickey's influence there as well...

Wow!!! Thought we might be done. This kid is the real deal and I can understand why they didn’t stop recruiting him.

I think we got the guy we needed in the JUCO kid but I would take one more please. I'm not sure what the plan is to get down to the number but there must be one.
No. Our RB room is a mess and we need as many studs as we can get. The JUCO kid is a big get, but need more.

There is a lot on this in other threads but arguably our Top 2 next year (Rahmir and Gabe) both have injury issues. The next 2 (Stepp and Yant) have their own issues. We need good RB's and should take as many want to come here. I don't care if we have to process a few. They didn't produce.

Prefer quality over quantity. I am not a live or die with the star system but we appear to be loading up on 3* talent. Somewhere along the way we need a separation to the upside.

I'm not sure what the course is to "process" kids who don't want to leave or don't have other options. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the B1G has a 4 year scholarship rule right? We're already 7-8 guys over the scholarship limit as we sit. There has to be more attrition coming from guys under that 4 year mark.

Most of these kids NU is probably assisting them in finding other options or have told them they are probably not going to see the field in any capacity. There is a lot of ego in college sports and if guys like Stepp and Yant are told they won't see the field, they are going to try and desperately find another spot because they probably think they are good enough to go to the league. "Processing" kids is not as hard as you are making it out to be. I'm not sure on the B1G having a 4 year scholarship rule. I guess I always thought, but never researched, that schollies are good for one year and then re-upped each year.

I thought we were at 89 (but that could be outdated). You have to be down to 88 by spring and 85 by fall. I do think kids have to see the light and decided to leave or go on medical, etc themselves. But who would want to stay and put in all that work if they are being told they will never see the field?

I haven't done a count. I was just repeated what was posted in a thread a day or two ago. I just know they were talking about us being over the number a couple of weeks ago and we've taken quite a few transfers since then. Somebody has to leave and it we've kind of run out of guys who have used their 4 years per the B1G.

We need good RB's. There's no point loading up on more middling backs. I think Ervin has the potential to be a good RB, though he didn't show much of it last year.

5"11" and 182 lbs? I dont' see him runing over anyone. But if he can hit a crease and stay on his feet when someone bumps his ankles, then he's better than what we have now.

It all depends on his frame for what will be his ideal college weight. They can easily bulk him up as needed. But his film and vision look good. Seems like he'll be a good one.

Yant's walk-on scholarship grant is renewed year to year. I would hope that it's safe to say that he'll be back to walk-on status next fall.

But yet, he is still that 3*, "middling" RB like we currently have on the roster, correct? What does he do that is so much better than what we have now?
Watch the damn film. He has skills that I don't think are on the roster currently. TCU is really good at finding quality running backs, so it's a good thing if we're able to steal one from them. Star ratings aren't everything.

Well, I feel better knowing you have evaluated his film. Stealing one from them because they are good at finding them is another stellar reason.

The question is what does he bring that we don't already have, assuming we are going to keep all these RBs?

If you're going to be an idiot and don't realize what he brings the table or even bother to look for yourself isn't my problem. Like I said, I don't think we have a single RB on the roster with the skills he has.

Thank you for calling me an idiot. That tells me a lot about you as a person when you can't articulate something any other way.

Obviously the coaches want him. I get that. Assuming all these guys stay, the room is quite full. If the kid from CC makes it, we will have seriously invested in the RB position with 3 in this cycle alone. He is going to have a lot of people in the room to jump over. "IF" he was clearly superior, sure, but is he? The wild cards are obviously who is leaving and doesn't know it and do we need help at other positions?

Why worry about it? I’m certain the coaches know the number and know who is coming and going.

I've been exceedingly nice and patient with people like you for years. All I get is disrespect back. Watch the film. Think for yourself. I no longer have patience for people who are too lazy or incapable of doing such things.

Not worried about it. Just stating the obvious that somebody is going to have to pack their bags after spring ball. The way we're going after RBs, I think we're going to cut bait with Yant after his screw up last fall.

He is a 4 star, with a 90 score, on another website if that helps ease your mind .........

Allen rated his visit a perfect 10 and may make his decision this week.
His film actually reminds me most of Ameer Abdullah.

It would be great if he committed here. There is no one on the roster like him. His lateral movement is so quick and smooth sometimes, it’s like he’s gliding across ice. His acceleration is very impressive as well.
Alabama had been showing him interest before he committed to TCU and came to see him play in person then setup a visit for him to Bama.

I'm more impressed with Allen than Grant. Time will tell, but we sure as heck need both of them given our history of injury and non production at the RB spot since Ozig left.

I yearn for the days of Helu, Superman, Ameer.

Yep, there a period of years where NU had an older all conference RB and a younger future all conference RB on the team at the same time.
