Each level has elite… saban and belichek for example… but is Zac more elite than Lincoln Riley because he coaches in the pro ranks?Label me confused
Did Saban become a better coach from his MSU days, or just get better players at LSU and BamaThe talent difference in NFL games isn’t as great as in college making NFL coaching more valuable
you can hide a lot of coaching deficiencies by being a great recruiter and simply having overwhelming talent
NFL. The best college coaches often try to prove themselves in the mens league and fail more often than not. The very best NFL coaches do not clamor to be in the college ranks. It's a demotion or a chance to revitalize a career.Better coaches…. College head coaches or pro AS A RULE….

Probably both as he was young at MSUDid Saban become a better coach from his MSU days, or just get better players at LSU and Bama
teams used to play the same wayIn the NFL, every team plays the exact same way....and the only position that matters is quarterback.

You might think that they all play the same way but that isn't exactly true. Most play on the conservative side rather than aggressive play calling (which has been changing) but philosophy isn't the same across the board, offense or defense. In the NFL, every team plays the exact same way....and the only position that matters is quarterback.
Ravens play like the buccaneers? Was not aware. In the NFL, every team plays the exact same way....and the only position that matters is quarterback.
Must be why the $30 million man always takes the Vikes so deep into the playoffs. In the NFL, every team plays the exact same way....and the only position that matters is quarterback.
I for one am glad not every team plays like the JetsIn the NFL, every team plays the exact same way....and the only position that matters is quarterback.
I respectfully disagree… in a league where you have a Jackson, Mahomes, Allen, hill( wellRegardless of if you think that all NFL teams play the same way....you have to agree that the only position that matters is quarterback.
That's part of the reason I quit watching about 3 years ago. It's not much different than watching a quarterback-skills-competition event.
Yeah...and 90% of the talk and highlights are about the quarterbacks. And how great the quarterbacks are. Big defensive plays aren't even allowed anymore.I respectfully disagree… in a league where you have a Jackson, Mahomes, Allen, hill( well), the difference in style has never been greater to me
Well, YES!!! Tell me a time when it WASN’T qb driven…. Then it might have been running back driven…Yeah...and 90% of the talk and highlights are about the quarterbacks. And how great the quarterbacks are. Big defensive plays aren't even allowed anymore.
It is way more nuanced than that. You're a funny guy.Regardless of if you think that all NFL teams play the same way....you have to agree that the only position that matters is quarterback.

People need to think of football as a product. The consumers want more bang for their buck which is big passing plays, dynamic catches, and running backs breaking through the line.Well, YES!!! Tell me a time when it WASN’T qb driven…. Then it might have been running back driven…
I agree that defense has been incredibly hamstrung
you admit you don't watch the NFL, yet here you are, extolling an admittedly ignorant point of view in hopes of.... what, exactly?Regardless of if you think that all NFL teams play the same way....you have to agree that the only position that matters is quarterback.

That actually sums it up pretty well. If you guys will hold on a little bit, I'm going to opine on the field of astrophysics later todayyou admit you don't watch the NFL, yet here you are, extolling an admittedly ignorant point of view in hopes of.... what, exactly?
not only are you completely wrong, you're openly admitting you don't know anything about football on the whole.
typical B1G fan. bet you didn't bother to watch the national championship game, either.
To be fair, most NFL coaches fail, regardless of their path to the job.NFL. The best college coaches often try to prove themselves in the mens league and fail more often than not. The very best NFL coaches do not clamor to be in the college ranks. It's a demotion or a chance to revitalize a career.
You can add Urban Meyer to the list. It’s a different skill set. What makes a great college coach doesn’t make a great nfl coach and vise versa. College is more authoritarian. Being a parent and disciplinarian. NFL is about buy in and ego management. There’s a reason saban didn’t do well in the nfl. There are very few success stories of coaches being successful at both levels for a reason.
Exactly. The NFL is a product. A money-making business. And they have determined that they can get the most viewership by airing the ball out like a pinball game. They want every-other play to be a 20+ yard pass. They don't want the quarterbacks hit or hurt. They want as many big electric plays as possible.People need to think of football as a product. The consumers want more bang for their buck which is big passing plays, dynamic catches, and running backs breaking through the line.
No one wants to watch Iowa Hawkeye snoozefest defensive struggles. It's part of the game, but not the part that draws in the majority of fans. When star QBs and receivers are out with injury, the whole thing suffers. There's actually something a little bit sick about people who like to see other people get hurt. Obviously it's the defense's job to hold the opponent down, so you want your own defense to be awesome, but you of course want it to be second fiddle on the team if you're honest.
Not every team drafts as bad as the Jets. Long time Jet fan here.I for one am glad not every team plays like the Jets![]()
