Nice summary of the season’s woes, but I wouldn’t call it the most convincing argument for being close to a great record. Flipping 17 plays seems like a lot.

Probably better to just say we lost all of our games in the final minutes.

I see 5 games in which 1 play changed the outcome:

Illinois: Roughing the passer by Tannor on the Taylor-Britt INT
Mich St: Punt return (as mentioned in the video)
Minnesota: Yant trips on 4th and Goal at the 1
Purdue: Incomplete pass to Toure right before half (lost in the sun? .. easy TD)
Iowa: punt blocked (as mentioned in the video)

Ill give him those, and yes some are a stretch, but even given those plays, Im know there were quite a few where we were WIDE open on a deep pass where martinez overthrows, or a simple throw to Allen for TD where Martinez floats it over his 6'9 head. Or Jurgens gets a penalty for blocking someone too hard and the play comes back. Id rather see those highlighted. Or a false start kills a drive or a holding penalty kills a drive, or 4th and inches at the goal and we set up in shotgun and our RB trips. The possibilities are endless, which is why it is so frustrating. there were so many ways for us to be good this year. so many. and we blew all of them

It really is mind boggling. I mean you could almost write comedy about this. Bad news bears (football version)

These are always very interesting but the evaluations occur in a vacuum

he could just as easily go back and cheery pick 15-20 plays by our opponents that had they turned out differently would have meant double digit losses in all those games

like dr. tom said, if you lose you just work harder to get better.
I'd also like to see some of these big wiggin nu fans who want pass happy,
to pry them wallets open and get the nil pass happy o-linemen rolling in...

I thought Michigan and OSU were 2 of our more winnable games where the refs had a huge impact. Michigan the phantom offensive PI far away from the play and OSU a slanting receiver getting tackled on a go ahead drive with no PI called.

The flip side of that is that it shouldn't be that tough to turn those losses in to wins. Shouldn't. I'm hopeful that better redzone play calling and execution (QB cough cough) along with what looks like tremendous additions on special teams will help us dramatically.

I really don't think we had the athletes to be very competitive to compete Frost's 2 years but I think we do now. Now we HAVE to get our QB and kickers to quit costing us games. It SHOULD be pretty simple.
