on 1620 this morning. Stressed he has no "inside knowledge" but thinks it is very possible the game gets moved to the States. Benning seem to agree it was a distinct possibility. Would love to see that happen. Not many places on Earth better than August in Chicago (go Cubs). Don't get me wrong, I love Ireland - been there twice. But never saw the appeal of pairing that trip with a football game.

I hope they cancel it. This game has always worried me. It is damn, damn important that we get off to a strong start next year and beat NW out of the gate. In fact, it is critical. And my fear has always been that a trip to Dublin will bring with it the fatigue of jet lag and a long plane flight, coupled with the distractions of being in Ireland. On paper, we should kick Northwestern's *** just like we did last year. On paper. But we will only do that if we have a business-like approach to this game: go to Chicago on a Friday, Kick Northwestern's *** on Saturday, and then get on the plane and get the hell back to Lincoln.
I hope they cancel the game and move it to Lincoln or Evanston - very little upside to playing in Dublin, and lots of potential downside.
I hope it gets moved to Chicago. The only upside to Dublin is the money Dublin makes and all the freebies that are handed out to media members. No upside for Nebraska at all.
Maybe. I think a better recruiting pitch would be to win games and go to a bowl.
Haha yeah the other day I mentioned this game to my wife, "yeah the Huskers are playing the first game in Ireland, it should be pretty cool" and her response was "...but why?" I had no answer!
I don't really care one way or another if it happens honestly. Between the pandemic and the Huskers not being good lately I can't imagine they'll end up with the kind of attendance they originally hoped.
I'd like to see it get moved to a fun venue. Soldier Field, Atlanta, Lambeau, etc... I'd go if it was that.

I agree. I like the idea of Indy as well or maybe even something in the south to get a few more eyes on the B1G.
I think it's more important to not have a goofy schedule flying back with a game six days away against ND.
You just may be on to something mgbreis. Winning and playing in games like that would be even better.
Why did they pursue playing over there knowing the next week they were playing a game against North Dakota..
They knew full well what the schedule was when inviting NW to play in Dublin..

Agreed - if I was ever going to visit Ireland or any place in Europe, I wouldn't be spending over four hours of my time there doing something that I could do several times a year in Lincoln, Nebraska.
I'm with you. I think it's cool and hope we continue to pursue/jump at these opportunities.

The covid testing requirements will make it very difficult for Americans to travel overseas. Best they change venue to stateside.
I don’t know why Nebraska doesn’t have Hawaii on it schedule anymore, imo going to Hawaii is a lot better recruiting tool than Ireland

So you'd rather get robbed/carjacked/shot at and told it's your fault for being privileged than see castles and enjoy a few pints at historic pubs?
It's a fun opportunity to travel with a bunch of people you like but aren't close enough friends with to plan a regular trip together. I'm not going but did think about it cuz it'd be cool to realize X, Y, and Z are gonna be there too, let's hang out with them a couple times while we're there.
Selfishly I hope it's moved to Chicago because I'd actually go to it.
