Is this really good for college football? Every g$d dam year.... just sick of them. Down to their 3rd and 4th CB’s.. down 2 starting wrs... no worries! More 5 stars step in. Is Saban a great coach? Or do the boosters just pay the most for 5 star players? With the NIL now.. it could get worse....what’s it going to take to knock them out?? Thoughts?

Saban isn't going to be around much longer. The Bama run will end sooner than later for that reason alone.

Every dynasty in college football eventually ended. Same thing will happen to Alabama.

I remember when other fan bases had Nebraska fatigue. I am pretty old.

I appreciate excellence and really enjoy watching Saban re-invent himself and his team every year when they lose all their coaches to new jobs every offseason. It's fascinating to me to see how he can lose all those assistant coaches but it doesn't even matter. They're still elite, year after year.

The key is still acquisition of talent

Yeah but he earned the privilege of easily attracting 5 stars by way of his elite coaching. I’m not sure he’s a master schemer, but he knows how to teach discipline and lead.

Saban is the top CEO in college football. He always amasses the best talent around him(coaches and players) which takes its own type of talent to find the right ones. Is he the best coach? Maybe.

Completely agree. To the folks who claim that he and other great coaches cheat - you sound exactly the same as all the folks who claimed the same thing about Osborne in the 90’s.

I believe Alabama/SEC every fruit juicing year is starting to turn the rest of the country off to the playoffs. Overall probably not good for college football but it is what it is. Since I'm a capitalist, I say the rest of the country needs to somehow get better to take the SEC out. Don't ask me how, that for Scott Frost to figure out.

He runs as good a program as we've ever seen, no doubt. Talent differential is the key though and why he was just another NFL coach.

Most college football coaches probably wouldn't have the success at Bama that Saban does. He may not have been any kind of great coach in the NFL, but he thrives at the college level and he's the best in the business right now.

Alabama is a terrible college (as is the SEC minus Vandy). Tuscaloosa is a ********. They have the best coach and recruiter. That goes and they lack much appeal

And Georgia now too. Tired of it. I LOVE college football. But hate it for this reason too. I hate the nfl, but at least there's less disparity between teams and always a punchers chance with the underdogs

Did you have the same feelings in the 90s when Nebraska was steamrolling everybody they played? Was it bad for college football?

Yep...people forget how they were after Stallings retired until Saban. They were basically Wisconsin.

Yeah I mean talent matters a ton. But his NFL career was far better than he was given credit for. I’ll take Jason Taylor’s word that he would’ve thrived with a QB, and everyone knows you must have a QB in the NFL.

Georgia isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They have a young head coach. They are the next Alabama but not to the level of Nick Saban.

They lost to Texas A&M. They needed overtime to beat Auburn. They only beat Florida by 2, LSU by 6, and Arkansas by 7.

I still say they should have to win a real 16-team Playoff.
How many times-have the parents dropped you on your head.?
Honest question.

Saban has 10 more years in his tank easily.
No he doesn't. At his age your mind or body can fall apart pretty quickly. Happended to Bobby Bowden and Joe Pa at Penn State. Both were healthy as could be, then a couple of years later they were not able to remember the name of all of the team starters.

this is the nil question, now that paying players is less centralised (sec)..
will college football become more or less centralised?
what will a bench full of 5 stars cost? or, will the money just change hands different and things will just remain the same?

Georgia and Alabama had high quality players transfer from Ohio St, Clemson and Tennessee. We get guys from Montana and South Dakota and our " 5*" FROM Ohio St never saw the field
