How do we beat Wisconsin?(VB)

I don’t know the X’s and O’s of volleyball but it seems like a tall task. No pun intended.
Felt confident we’d beat Pitt. Don’t feel like we beat Wisconsin… they have a killer instinct to them and are experienced in the final four despite not winning one yet. But Cook’s teams always seem to surprise and come up clutch so I do have hope we defy the odds.

Nebraska beating Wisconsin in volleyball is almost as futile as Nebraska beating Wisconsin in football.
Am I correct in that the last time Nebraska beat Wisconsin in volleyball was 2017? Cause...yikes.

i give Nebraska the edge 1 Nebraska only went 4 sets Wisconsin had to go 5 and 2nd Wisconsin will be a tad over confident which will hurt them

I didn't think we had a chance in Austin but somehow they came through. This should be a great match.
Nebraska has beaten the number 2 and 3 seeds in back to back weeks. I think this Husker team is playing some of the best volleyball right now. Nebraskas defense has really improved since Cook got the lineup figured out. These ladies also truly believe they cam get this done. Wisky can have the Conference title, we will take the National. Its extremely hard to beat the same team 3 times in a season. Cook gets it figured out and our girls play with a chip on their shoulder.
We will lose in three sets. Wisconsin is better than we are and they are playing at a high level. We are playing at a high level as well and seem to be hitting our stride at just the right moment so maybe we pull off a win here. But I just think they are too powerful for us right now. Our future is bright - - we have a young team loaded with talent - - but this will not be our night I fear.
We could have beaten Wisconsin last time we played. Refs missed a clear touch on replay that cost us a set that took the wind out of our sails.

Wisconsin has had our number and in watching previous games against them I never got the feeling like our girls were confident that they could beat them. But we are flat out more talented than we've been in recent years and our new freshmen have experience now. Kids have settled into their roles. And the thing about those new kids is they may be cocky enough not to care about our record against the Badgers in recent years.
Possibly ask them to wear bags over their heads, it has to be distracting looking at them during the match
Agree. We have to continue serving aggressive with minimal errors in hopes of keeping them out of system. Wisconsin is going to hit and their height will neutralize our defense to some extent, so our best bet is to keep them on their heels and hopefully frustrate them… take them out of the match mentally.
Pitt was feeling pretty good after the first set. It was easy. Then Cook adjusted and we jumped on them in the second. I don't think we trailed the rest of the match. Broke their confidence.
This is the most misunderstood claim in sports.
Of course I don’t have a stat for volleyball on this, but since it’s usually used for NFL, the team that’s 2-0 wins the third matchup 67% of the time.
If before the season you knew two teams would face each other three times, then you could say it’d be hard for one to beat the other all three times. But given one has already beaten the other twice, it is not especially hard for them to also win the third.
Not sure how this claim ever got started. My guess is people expect the 2-0 team to always win the third, so when they lose it sticks in people’s memories.
Anyhoot… I don’t really disagree with the rest of your post. Just had to get this off my chest.
This team wins with their defense. Difficult to block 6'8" at the net so our back row will need to dig and pass well. Get Wisconsin out of system with good serving. Our serving has been great at times but seems to break down in key times, it will need to be near perfect. Don't get rattled with Wisconsin goes off on a big run, that is what they are known for with their size. That is where getting them out of system will come in. Make them scramble.
Wisconsin is well coached, talented and most of all very experienced. Nebraska will have to physically beat them as they have 5-6 super seniors who have played together for a long time. Hang in there and battle for every point, don't give Wisconsin any easy points and we will see what the Huskers can do.

We’re not the same team we were even last time we played when we took a set off of them. The youngsters are playing so much better and more confident and Hames, Stivrins, Kubik, etc will make sure no one is intimidated. It will be a battle, Wisconsin is playing fantastic right now and will take our best effort but they aren’t unbeatable.
You could go find a couple Wisky players and ROOFIE them. A lot nicer than clubbing their leg.
