Just last month Iowa was #2 in the nation. When was Nebraska last ranked #2?And when has Ioway been relevant..
We won. You lost. I tell you what though, Nebraska really does lose better than anyone else. They have made it an art form and fans like you only highlight what has become of the Nebraska dumpster fireThat’s why you were a underdog against a 2nd string Qb and backup Running back..
whole new level. Don’t flatter yourself with praise..
I’m not praising the losing one bit and can’t stand the way we crap games away the whole year, so you have me confused with someone else….We won. You lost. It was two months ago..Just last month Iowa was #2 in the nation. When was Nebraska last ranked #2?
Nebraska was #2 two month ago? Or are you questioning Iowa was #2 on Oct 16th?It was two months ago..![]()
Underdog? So what? We won. At the end of the game its not even noteworthy but you are clinging to it and its actually pretty funny. Nebby coaches, players and apparently fans are losers! Its what you do. Embrace itI’m not praising the losing one bit and can’t stand the way we crap games away the whole year, so you have me confused with someone else….
You’re the one coming over here praising your teams win and saying your more relevant when actually Ioway was the underdog to 3-8 team..
Difference between the two teams was special teams…. Try and convince me if we switch special teams both teams would have had different results..
Wait your the one spouting about being relevant and we were the favorites.Underdog? So what? We won. At the end of the game its not even noteworthy but you are clinging to it and its actually pretty funny. Nebby coaches, players and apparently fans are losers! Its what you do. Embrace it![]()
But we won and are ranked and all you can talk about is a betting line.Wait your the one spouting about being relevant and we were the favorites.
Let that sink in..
They are past moral victories and have moved onto betting line victories. My how the mighty have fallen. But we won and are ranked and all you can talk about is a betting line.
Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio St, Oklahoma were all favored against us and all 4 are better teams than Ioway ….But we won and are ranked and all you can talk about is a betting line.
No moral victory at all we lost Ioway won...They are past moral victories and have moved onto betting line victories. My how the mighty have fallen.
Your entire posting history is a list of moral victories. How delusional are you?No moral victory at all we lost Ioway won...
It’s how the country is perceiving how good your team is..
Just as delusional as some of you Herky’s coming over here telling us about your little accomplishments in your football historyLaughingYour entire posting history is a list of moral victories. How delusional are you?
We are better than you now thoJust as delusional as some of you Herky’s coming over here telling us about your little accomplishments in your football historyLaughing
And who is disagreeing with that? Surely not I, when we’ve had the worst run in our school history the last 7 years since the late 1950’s..We are better than you now tho
I started following college football in the 80’s and Minnesota was already fully irrelevant, just 20 or so years past their heyday. Just saying. GBR.Complete ignorance displayed any time an iowa fan tries to compare Minnesota to Nebraska. Although Nebraska is clearly on the path these past 7 years, they need to continue for at least another 40 years to reach Minnesota level irrelevance.
More or less obsessed than some Iowa dipshit necro'ing a month old thread on someone else's board? You guys notice this @NeverWasHawk dork created a new account three days ago here just to obsess over Iowa?
Can you say, “completely in your head?”
Schedule, for the most part, is everything. It is what some schools/AD's realized years ago. Play 3 crappy Non-con teams and the rest is gravy. Now, some of that has changed since conferences have changed but you get my point. It's amazing how much a schedule can impact perceptions of a program.
Iowa played ISU, Kent State and CSU in the non-conference, and had crossover games against Indiana, Maryland and Penn State. They finished 10-3 with a blowout loss to Michigan in the conference title game. Yet, because of their record — in large part a product of that easy schedule — the perception is that they're a program on the rise, despite having a 66-year-old coach who'll be a defendant in a racism trial in the next 15 months and who could retire any day. The Hawkeyes are pulling in recruits they'd only dreamed of in past years. But I wonder how they'd be doing in public perception and recruiting with a 6-6 record and a date in the Pinstripe Bowl, their likely record had they played Nebraska's schedule.
Hell, even Rutgers is getting plaudits for beating Temple, Syracuse, Delaware, Indiana and (gulp) Illinois, and getting a substitute bowl bid for its 5-7 record despite finishing the season with a 40-16 loss to Maryland, a 28-0 loss to PSU, a 52-3 loss to Wisconsin, a 31-13 loss to MSU, and a 21-7 loss to Northwestern.
The only silver lining for us is that the 3-7 start to our season prompted Alberts to urge Frost to make substantive changes in the coaching staff. So whereas programs like Iowa and Rutgers may actually need to make some major changes in what they're doing, they may not fully realize it because they muddled through weak schedules.
We KNOW we suck, and the killer schedule only underscored that fact. The only real puzzler was that turd we laid in Champaign.
How'd that turn outJust last month Iowa was #2 in the nation. When was Nebraska last ranked #2?
Kwik Star.
I'd say Nebraska finally sees Iowa as their prime yearly rival. Historically it would likely be Oklahoma, but Oklahoma hasn't felt the same for decades now. Nebraska historically would like to say their rivals in the B1G are Ohio State, Michigan and maybe Penn State. But it hasn't been that way. Wisconsin will always view Minnesota as their chief rival. It really does come down to Iowa vs Nebraska. Both programs see it that way I feel. It took Iowa beating Nebraska for the better part of a decade to finally get it to this point.
I guess the real question is if Nebraska will ever make it back up to the Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State tier. Or are they now firmly entrenched in the Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan State tier. Of all the powerhouse programs in a decade plus funk, I would say Nebraska has the toughest road back. Tennessee would be a close second. That has nothing to do with history, facilities, fan enthusiasm or willingness to invest. It simply has to do with geography. Nebraska will need a Phil Knight type to even out the odds. USC, Texas, Miami, Florida, Florida State all have a huge advantage based on location alone. Miami, USC and Texas will all greatly benefit from the NIL as well. We all know why as well.
