History of hiring/firing hasn’t worked. Competitive team with a ridiculous schedule. Native son. There’s little downside to one more year. Next years schedule is far more manageable. If he can’t get it done, it’s over. May not be popular, but it’s probably the right decision.

Your expectations being bottom of the barrel are part of the problem. The recruiting class is going to be bad because we are keeping a 3-9 coach. Hiring the right guy would give us a much better class. 6 wins being fine in year 5 is awful and embarrassing. That is far worse than a coaching changeMaybe.
