In the past it feels like we would be hearing drops about who the decision makers are currently talking too or would have inside speculation at least...

Other than pure speculation & "want" on this board it's been crickets... this leads me to believe either a) NU has secured all loose lips under Trevs guidance or b) They're going after folks who are sill playing and can't talk about such a move...

It just seems odd because some of the news sounded like this was going to happen quickly with a new OC, which lead me to believe they had someone in mind when they pulled the trigger on the firings... and other news says Scott is working on this at night after practice... hard to understand...

Perhaps I'm just getting ahead of myself and over thinking it...

So it's not Herman nor Helfrich. Most likely they have no one right now and will refocus on the hire after Iowa. At which point, Frost will announce the hiring of no names.

that's kind of what I was leaning towards with my post... if it didn't get announced right away then it eliminates those kind of potentials... then with this market and openings it leaves us in the backseat

They are looking at empirical data about the offense that will succeed moving into the future and not the offense that succeeded 8 years ago.
HCSF and TA don’t want to make a hire based on loyalty to the 90s Huskers.

What a stupid question. Am I the one hiring for TA and Frost?
Nope, but that isn't the point. The point is you're gonna complain about who gets hired no matter what. It's a virtual lock that you'll ***** and moan about the hiring of a "no-name" OC, all while not being able to put together a list of OCs. Hilarious.

At the end of the day you're just a miserable human being.

So it is the wrong hire if you make it quick? Or take longer?

The point, dumbo, is that neither the timeline nor if it is leaked, has any impact on the decision being right or wrong?
Recruiting.

if they don’t make a decision soon we could lose this class and really be set back. Then it could take another year to rebuild.

The class of 2022 is not going to be the difference in the 2022 season. The success of the 2022 season is going to be determined mostly, by players already on the roster and the players they can pick up in the portal. The portal is always open. In addition to the players in the portal now, there will be players that enter the portal in December and players that will enter in May. Finding the the right OC is what is important, hurrying to name one because of a self imposed deadline is silly.

The point is still that getting the right guy is all that matters. Whether the hiring decision is made in November or December or if it is leaked or not will not determine if the right guy is/ was hired.

Once again, OP, you didn't listen to the words coming out Frost's mouth. He said "Things will move quickly AFTER the season is over"

Enjoy wiscy & Io_a games then worry about new coaches.

I believe they have to publicly advertise the positions for 3 weeks before they can actually hire someone so there is that. Frost had said "some of the candidates (for the open positions) are still coaching", They told us it would be shortly after the Iowa game that they thought they would have the new coaches in place. It appears they meant what they said. There is no reason to announce who it is until then.

and you are stupid. The difference is that I can wake up happy in the morning, while you will still be stupid. Like i've said this is not my course of action but yours, I want a new head coach.

Kicking and screaming about it like a petulant child won’t get you a new head coach.

Most people complain for a few days and then move on. Only the most childish can’t move on.

I wanted a new head coach too. That didn't happen. I'm an adult and moved on. You're a petulant child. What a miserable person you are. I feel sorry for your dog.

Advertising for three weeks is a must because UNL is a state institution which job openings require a set amount of time for letting the public know there is a job opening. It doesn't mean that they are not currently talking to people about the openings. I would believe that is going on behind the scenes right now and no one is talking about it.

Exactly. Especially considering how small this class will be there's only a couple of spots which are critical to land someone for and even then we may be more likely to find contributors in the portal.

They might already have a verbal agreement with someone but as we saw when Wannstedt backed out on Pedie, that only goes so far. Folks just need to be patient. I bet we'll know who the hires are in less than two weeks.

It's kind of how it works. Head coaches are inclined to hire guys who they've worked with before or who have a long resume to offer. I'm not sure we'll land a guy with a long resume for our OC job given the circumstances.

In a Gabriel article in LJS, Frost said there has been lots of interest. You know they're not twiddling thumbs. Trev's and Scotts Sunday morning meeting anticipated this weeks ago. Probably made some joint calls in those three hour sessions.

It kind of makes it sound as if it isn't a done deal yet. I really thought they already had the guy they wanted when they canned Lubick. IF not, they must really have been unhappy with Lubick.

That is such a bad 'take'.

Lubick would run circles around anybody on this board.

People put way too much into firings. The group that got fired didn't produce their expected results. That is why they got axed after 4 years of moderate to low end productivity. You don't need a Harvard law degree to understand that.

Did Trev have anybody in mind for OC? Maybe. He just knew some changes needed to be made, and after 4 seasons of low end results, he demanded change.

Frost needs to find a winner. Trev isn't sticking his neck out for an OC and an entire offensive staff. It is up to Frost. Trev will help as much as he can, but this is on Frost to get it done.

Chin has been great on D. Somehow find an offense that you are so incredibly known for with your background.
