I saw this on Reddit. Some interesting info here. I would really like to see him get the chance to be the man. What does it hurt? If he has a fast blinker and can make solid decisions it will probably cover up some deficiencies:

Reddit Info:

Some have said "he can't throw". Others have called him "worse than McCaffrey". And most everyone believes there's no way he could provide a better option than 2AM. But from what I've seen, Logan is an accurate passer, with an adequate arm, good wheels, is tough as hell (played with broken ribs/collapsed lung during HS playoffs), knows the offense, and can make quick decisions with the ball. Also, he's a coach's son.

In my opinion, he exists less on the Martinez/McCaffrey plane, and more on the Vedral/Milton spectrum. And he entered the program far more prepared and seasoned than anyone else in the QB room (including the departed McCaffrey).

He appears in the Alabama record books alongside some notable college QBs, including: JaMarcus Russell, Jameis Winston, Brodie Croyle, A.J. McCarron, Taulia Tagovailoa, and Bo Nix.

The numbers:

• 7,489 career passing yards (#18 all-time in AL)
• 10,428 (7,489 passing, 2,848 rushing, 91 receiving) career total offense (#6 all-time)

• 100 (65 passing, 34 rushing, 1 receiving) career TDs (#17 all-time) -- 2 fewer passing TDs and 1 fewer rushing than Winston (103)

• 622-920 (67.6%) career completion % (#3 all-time)
• 164-216 (75.9%) in his SR season (#2 all-time)

• Had 2,204 passing yards (28 TDs), 809 rushing yards (13 TDs) on 93 carries (8.7/carry) in his SR year.
• Only played 38 of 52 total quarters his SR year. Mostly due to blowouts.
• Finished SR year 12-1.

We have several posters on here that echo how terrible Smothers is, but every time I see him actual play, he looks good.

I don't think his high school stats are opinion. Also, watching some of the video of him in mop up time I forget about he hasn't looked as bad as they say he is. His drive against MSU he looked comfortable and moved the ball until a holding call. I just want to see him get a shot that's it. He may suck dick, but at this point, put him in there. You have an opportunity to do a ton of tinkering in 2 games and no one will really say ****,

Consider me on the Smothers bandwagon. People say he must be terrible if he hasnt seen time, even with Air Mail hurt but I think it's just Frost being dumb with no vision further than next Saturday.

I'd love to see him finish out the year, or even a few series, but we all know that ain't happening.

No idea, but didn't play his senior year and I'm too lazy to look it up. Someone else did the legwork for me on Smothers stats/
Martinez missed his senior season because of an injury but shined during his junior year, completing 220-of-366 passes for 2,562 yards and 25 touchdowns, with just four interceptions. On the ground, Martinez ran for 1,462 yards and 14 touchdowns. Martinez also led the offense as a sophomore, throwing for better than 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also rushing for more than 900 yards.

Martinez was ranked as the No. 56 player in the ESPN300 and was the No. 4 pocket passer. Rivals and 247Sports both ranked him among the nation’s top 10 dual-threat quarterbacks, with Rivals ranking Martinez as the nation's No. 98 overall prospect and 247Sports listing him as the No. 142 overall prospect. Martinez was also selected to participate in the 2018 Under Armour High School All-America Game. He had dozens of scholarship offers and chose Nebraska over Tennessee.

If smothers is indeed all that and he hasn’t seen the field then Trev made a horrible mistake

What was his team’s win-loss record in high school?

I guess what is your point? We've seen Martinez, this is about wanting to see Smother's because everyone talks **** about what he can't do, yet he's put up some pretty damn good stats in high school and also seems to process things much quicker than Martinez. Martinez has had more than enough time to prove himself and he's stepped on his dick way too many times.

Like I said, we've got 2 games to try some things. Why not play Smothers to see what he looks like and maybe run the offense a different way. Maybe he makes quick decisions and gets it to the play makers and doesn't make mistakes. Hell, I'd be open to try Haarburg as well. Just run your best set of plays that they lineman block the best and go with that and maybe sprinkle something in. Could also just go wide open as hell and let her rip because like I said, who cares at this point? Find who shines when the lights come on. It is not AM.

From what little I've seen of him play Smothers looks good to me.

If we go into 2022 with a totally inexperienced QB we might be in a world of hurt.

That's what is mind boggling. Frost keeps chirping that AM gives us the best chance to win. Well he isn't winning anything against any teams with a pulse. 3 wins give Logan experience. Enough of the Am tenure

Frost is still butthurt about being booed here in 1997 against UCF, and the chants for Frankie London. He sees himself in Adrian and it has clouded his judgment.

My opinion is that Frost is just dumb and stubborn.

I talked to someone in the know and he said Martinez is pretty dinged up. Way more than people realize. He's a tough kid.

Why not run smothers out there against Purdue or Minnesota? There's no way he's not ready. Harry Potter could not have screwed him up that bad.

Smothers as now I'm repeating myself for the umpteen millionth time not only has the fastest blinkers in the room, he also gets the ball out of his hands quicker than any QB in the room and is very deliberate in everything he does and is the smartest QB in the room and has T-Mart Speed on top of everything. Smothers is also the only true RPO QB in the room as well. So there it is. He may not have the cannon other QBs in the room have, but he is a very accurate passer and more than adequate to run the O. Haarberg will never beat him out as the kid also has Frost's mentality, not the coach Frost but Frost as the player and no other QBs in the room possess that intangible not even Haarberg.

I am all for giving him a shot. Anyone in the room is better than AM, and have been saying it for years.

The word is that he is really well liked by the staff (what is left of them) and the only knock I have is his passing.

I have seen some passes that scare the heck out of me, but I remember that Taylor Martinez wasn't really allowed to pass over the middle either. I wish he was a bit taller too, but there are a lot of things we haven't seen from him, including his running ability which is supposed to be scary good.

I'd welcome someone who has a competitive leadership style over the current starter. From the small data points we have as fans, I'm inclined to believe that trait falls heavily on Haarberg, but let's not kid ourselves... Frost is going to play AM and there is nothing we can do about it.

Who plays the majority of snaps at QB last 2 games will give us a pretty good indication if AM is coming back next season.

If AM plays all but garbage time -- we will be getting year 5 of him next year.

Give the dude a shot if AM2 is going to continue to make terrible decisions. The ‘redemption’ tour just isn’t working.
Even if it's just a series after another stupid play by Adrian, the kid deserves to show what he can do on the field. IMO, not playing him at Minnesota when Adrian was clear struggling and not 100% was a mistake. He should have had at least one series in that first half. Adrian couldn't hit the broadside of the barn and wasn't making good decisions on the RPOs.

Should we really burn the redshirt for 2 games that don't matter? Throw Haarberg to the wolves let him get reps, get a transfer and have the 3 compete in the offseason. Hopefully one of Trevs metrics was moving on from AM2
