That would be the smart hire. Uses the TE. Long mesh as their RPO (a version of the option game). Spread formations are used. Will hit you deep in the passing game.

why would you come to a Nebraska board?
It is a legit question for any asst that gets brought up. Either the $$ is great, or the coach has major flaws/inexperience.

Why would a legit asst coach come to Nebraska to coach under a lame-duck HC that still won’t admit that his offense doesn’t work(read micromanager with a new OC)?

He’s been with Clawson for 13 seasons, has a top 25 level team. What incentive would there be to come coach at Nebraska with Frost on the hot seat?

The guy is at Wake Forrest. Why go to Nebraska?

Make way more money. Coach at a prestigious program in front of full stadiums. Coach against some of the best defenses in college football. Leave WF and coach big boy football.

I don’t think Nebraska is going to have trouble getting good candidates at all. Nebraska has great resources and some good offensive talent. Coaches are very confident, many will believe they will succeed here and see this as a great opportunity. Being the new OC that brings success to Nebraska could vault a career.

Plus, if they get credit for turning around the offense so it actually scores points, they will improve their shot at getting a HC job.

There are several good names to look at. Just takes one smart hire to turn things around. Then let the new OC hire the rest of the offensive staff.

The offense actually does work. We need better line play first foremost. Watch game film and tell me with a straight face the offense doesn't work.

They don’t score points my man. That’s what offenses are supposed to do.

Don’t come at me with game-film nonsense. I’m acutely aware of their schemes.

Yes obviously they need to be better in the red zone. You are the one claiming the offense doesn't work, that's flat out wrong.

If you aren't scoring points then the offense isn't working. yards without points is meaningless.

redzone play calling has not been good nor has the execution in the redzone by our QB. When your QB can't complete a 10 yard pass accurately on a consistent basis, your redzone efficiency is going to suffer. Multiple teams use versions of this same offense and it works just fine in the redzone. The problem is our QB and play calling.

JFC every time you talk at this point you sound dumber. That's red zone offense that needs to be better, which includes blocking and better QB play, like hitting the wide open crossing route. How many points have we given up because of missed kicks.

The stupid fans are the ones that think an offense is working that doesn't score points. It doesn't get any dumber than that.

Could be a solid hire!

I wonder if he’s related to Lefty Ruggerio, aka “lefty”, “ lefty guns”, “ hefty lefty”, “lefty two guns”, and last but not least, “mister violence”.

We’ll known in all 5 boroughs and Mulberry Street, forget about it.

Would definitely bring some street cred to the team.

Why come to the circus for a year, and leave the stability of WF and his last 13year working relationship w Clawson?

If Clawson gets an offer and takes a bigger gig Ruggierp is gonna be going with him..

Really no motivation or rhyme or reason he would come to NU for a year under the specific circumstsaces we are in right now.

Oh I don’t know, maybe because you have to go back to 1950 and Peahead Walker to find a coach who had an overall winning record at Wake Forest (and old Peahead was barely over 50% in his 14 seasons there). Pretty obvious WF is not about winning championships - or even really consistently competing for them. Maybe at some point a guy‘s competitiveness and desire to win makes him think it’s time to go somewhere that winning matters (to most of the fan base anyway, and actually has the resources to make that happen). If he doesn’t want to leave his comfy spot and perpetual losing records, then he doesnt have the desire to win that we need. But not sure we need a coach from another losing program. Winners win, losers lose. We need to find a winner in a big way.

Wake has been to 5 straight bowls and is headed for a 6th. Maybe they aren’t competing for national titles, but neither is Nebraska.

I hate to inform most of the posters here but there will be a collective "who?" when Frost promotes a position coach from somewhere.

In 2019 he was making 2.1 Mil. By now, maybe 2.5Mil a year.
