Heard that on the radio earlier this week I had never heard that they had a son killed by a baseball strike to the head.

you can't replace listening to Mr. Bremser while road hunting for pheasants back in the day

Outlived 4 children. I don't think I've ever heard of someone doing that.

RIP

KFAB mentioned that when Lyle passed away and they had a memorial for him on the radio, wasn’t his son in-law a spotter in the booth?
I remember on the broadcasts that they would discuss "Al Mackiewicz" as a spotter. RIP Bette.

Bette passed away last Sunday, a few months after marking her 100th Birthday.

Never met the man, but I was at his house or I should say yard once. My buddy use to mow his yard. He started mowing it when he was still in high school (Westside). The summer after our sophomore year in Lincoln he gave up most of his yards, but he kept a few belonging to customers he liked and Lyell’s was one of the yards he kept. Lyell was always having my friend do little side projects for him. I helped my friend plant some small plants at his house.

In the sixties and seventies in small town Nebraska who could hear Lyell’s voice all over town. Every business had the game on. He could make a two yard run sound exciting.

I was listening to a game on the beach in California in the 70's when Californians for Nebraska had the games on the radio. Jarvis Redwine or some other back ran a long way for a TD and Lyell was all spun up and said something like, "Oh my, Redwine ran right by the defender who looked like he was doing nothing but standing there knitting and purling." I was thinking where does this guy come up with this stuff?

That's what I noticed as well. Outlived all (4) of her children, 2 son in laws, and 3 grandchildren. But is survived by a sister and brother. I wonder how old they are?
That’s a hell of a gene pool. Apparently she didn’t pass it on. I’ll blame Lyle. RIP to the bride of one of Nebraska’s treasures.
