Our fan base, NIL status, resources, and tradition make this a very attractive job. It’s not top 10, but it’s certainly top 25. Don’t be like the jilted girlfriend that thinks they aren’t good enough. We have a lot to offer.

This guy is a respected "insider" that used to post on HuskerMax. There is a lot to digest here.

Thorough and fair review. Pretty interesting to hear the commentary on resources being withheld for past coaches.

He would have to win 2 of the last 3 for me to consider retaining I if I’m Trev. I just don’t see how you can go into the off-season like this. Much like Helton at USC this year, at the first sign of trouble people will be calling for change. And you’ll be a year behind with no momentum… Not to mention how pathetic our recruiting is already.

Great read with a lot of good insights. After reading all that, not sure how he’s still so on the fence.

To paraphrase — 3-9 he has to go but 4-8 I’m not sure

4-8!! or even 5-7 we have people who think this a difficult decision.

he got a nepotism year for year 4 …. Now some are talking year 5

there isn’t a better example of implicit bias than Scott Frost being considered for year 5 by some at NU

Purdue sealed Frost's future for me. Need a new staff and QB. There are too many coaches who can come here and out perform this staff. If Frost goes 0-3, on Friday night there better be a help wanted sign hanging outside the stadium.

Illinois with a backup QB was it for me. I saw a little hope with NW but that quickly eroded with Purdue and Minnesota. It's over.

NIL status? Nebraska doesn't have the population density to make it an attractive NIL place in my mind.

he gave a lot of reasons for firing him then says he would keep him.. if he won another game.

everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess.

with Bo Pelini weighing in, maybe he gets another year, but then if SF trots out AM again, you got to be kidding me.

we will lose Some guys in the portal too, and no guarantees the current staff sticks around for another year of this.

I think SF is out of rope, and it’s a shame.

Early in the piece he writes something along the lines of we should know something soon if Frost is safe, if not it probably means he’s gone. I have been seeing that all over. Where did this come from? What is the logic of publicly saying he’s safe before the season is over?

No news in the next 72 hours then Frost is fired after Iowa. That is what SSO is saying.

For those that want Frost back you will need to pray for another one score loss or win. If you want Frost fired, you will want Ohio State to win big.

If you are a Nebraska fan you want Nebraska to win. Period.

Adrian got a deodorant deal. If the human turnover machine can get a deal what do you think a star player could get? RollingLaugh
I heard AM had an endorsement deal with a bakery company. It was for a 4pack of turnovers. Swear to God I did randy

Oh now we're throwing Gerrard Lambrecht under the bus, when I heard multiple times he was doing a lot good things for the program... k

He's got exactly three weeks. He's never felt more pressure in his life. I see no benefit in letting him go early. Same scenario. He's gone a day or two after Thanksgiving and we have a new coach by the first week in December

And even if for some reason he was leaning toward keeping him, why would he feel the need to say so in the next few days? Makes no sense to me.

Yep, he is coaching for his head coaching career the rest of this season. I have nothing bad to say about SSO, he could have done a better job of explaining what he was saying about news or no news though.

Basically, if there was news that means that OSU game went well. If not, it means the still has Wisconsin and Iowa to give them a reason to keep him.

They aren't going to fire until season end.

This is a rambling, nonsensical article. There are 3 issues central issues to this team and its lack of success.
1) Frost isn't a very good coach. He's probably a coordinator at best.
2) Frost has mismanaged the roster, most glaringly at quarterback. He married himself to Martinez and did not provide the team with options it desperately needed.
3) Frost is uncoachable and unwilling or perhaps simply unable to make tough decisions.

We've botched the process of finding a good coach. Callahan and Riley were perplexing hires. The frost hire gets a pass because we overwhelmingly wanted him. But we are foolish to continue with him. He has made some improvements to the program, but overall he is still the wrong guy to lead the team.

I would be worried about him beong retained if we won another game, but then I remembered this is a Scott Frost coached team and we'll be going 0-3 with maybe a couple 1 score losses.

That rambling nonsense is 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

"Keep him if he wins a game." And finishes 1-5 to end the season and last place in the West. Pathetic. Root for KU if that's all it takes to satisfy you.

Next season looks easier and he might go 6-6! Progress! Pitiful.

He's gotten more resources than any coach in program history bit trev needs to decide if he needs more. Wow.

None of the other QBs are ready and may not be legit D1 talents anyway. Whose bleeping fault is that for not recruiting the right guys or going after a transfer.

God. The cult of Frost really is that strong, isn't it? 4-8 looks sexy just because it's scott frost giving it to them?

Bottom line: Scott Frost is the worst head coach in modern program history. Even if he wins tomorrow, he's still a bad head coach at the p5 level. It would be nothing more than his bill Jennings win over OU in 1959.

at this juncture, the thing i'm most worried about with firing Frost is losing Chins. what if he turns out to be a stud? if every phase played like the defense, we'd be top 10. hell, if we had wins over OU, MSU and UM we'd be in playoff talks.

i could be sold on keeping Frost through the offseason, seeing how he does up until the OU game, then letting Chins give it a crack as interim

It's odd to use "request for private plane travel was shut down" as the top example of something that was not provided to Bo Pelini and his staff for recruiting. Since it is false.

Private plane access WAS provided to he and his staff after they requested it.

I remember some posters up here even poked fun at it.

That was a great read. I'll admit that I am probably in the wrong in thinking that the NU job would not attract a lot of good candidates. The writer makes a great point about the new facility coming in and the new coach being able to make input on final planning. Other factors that make it good timing to make a coaching change from an administrator's perspective is that (1) the coaching change will not hurt recruiting as we're bringing in a small class anyway and (2) Trev's new hire will have an easier schedule next year.

"If Frost goes 0-3, on Friday night there better be a help wanted sign hanging outside the stadium."

Agree. I think we would have to finish the season no worse than 2-1 for Alberts to have any arguable excuse for retaining Frost.
