Two thoughts are: this is horrible and Ruggs is done, and I wonder if the raiders have time to go for OBJ..

But yeah, pretty awful

I believe Justin Watson wants out of the Rams. He's got a one year contact. Give the Rams a 4th rounder and have them pick up his salary. Win/win. Sucks about Ruggs.

Kid made a horrible mistake that will haunt him the rest of his life. Terrible situation all around. Prayers to the victim’s family as well as Ruggs and his family.

RIP to the victims. Ruggs will probably get another chance. The NFL only cares about mean emails.

Ruggs is going to prison most likely.
His second chance will come in 10 years or so.

How tragic. If I read a correct report, he rear-ended someone with his Corvette so violently he killed them.

The chance one takes driving while drunk. I did it at 22, I got lucky. Ruggs, nor his victim were. Don't drink and drive.

10 years? I’ve never heard of anybody getting 10 years. Is this his first DUI? If it is NO WAY he goes up for 10. If it’s not his first then maybe.

True. There’s also the fear of picking up an aging Jackson but surely Mike Davis won’t bite…. Though truth be told I wonder what OBJ, under non killing circumstances, would have been worth. Probably a 5th rounder? Didn’t Von Miller go for like a 6th or something? Sure it’s different but they seem of equal value

Judging by the damage to the vehicles he was going very fast, possibly close to 70-80 on a city street. You almost never see that much front end damage to a car that rear ends another vehicle. SUVs have nothing but space in the back so there is no way the corvette should be so totalled. I would also be willing to bet that had he not been drunk he could have had time to help to woman who died escape from her SUV. He'll get probably less than 1 year though. Victims of drunk drivers rarely get real justice.

0.161 BAC level is a rookie number, speaking as a Nebraska fan.

Jokes aside, RIP to the victim and her dog. I am hoping the Raiders are able to snag Desean Jackson once he clears waivers. Wanted OBJ, but the Browns were unwilling to trade before the deadline yesterday.

It has been reported that he doing 156 mph shortly before the accident.

He is also facing 2-20 years with no possibility of probation.

I don't know the Nevada law but in California if you have a prior drinking incident while driving and kill somebody while under the influence you get charged with murder.

156 mph is just ridiculous whether he was drunk or not.

It was 126mph when his airbags deployed. He was over 150 just prior to the collision. He will get at least 2 years per Nevada law for causing a death under the influence. It could be quite a bit more.

He was going 156 mph down a 45 mph street. He was traveling as fast as an air plane lands. Lock him up and throw away the key.

That was the most reliable thing I'd read. My guess is with the money he has to hire legal representation, he will end up at the low end of the sentencing spectrum so probably in the 2-4 year range. I believe the max sentence with his current charge is 20 years. All that can also change if it gets pled down, etc..

if i was a survivor i'd be fine with him serving time in the offseason, so he can work to pay off some of the 'pain and suffering'...

I've been to that topgolf. Best one ever. Right next to the MGM and it has a swimming pool on the second floor. Every time I've been, someone is picking up the tab and they happily shovel drinks and food at you as fast and as much as you'd like. I doubt they were monitoring his consumption.

If it wasn't totally insensitive, Corvette could use this in a commercial detailing how safe they are. 126 mph at the time of impact is a crazy amount of physics smashing into you. All his internal organs went from 126 to zero in a split second. He is lucky he ain't dead. He needs to pay that family millions and then just go away. He could probably come back in a few years after showing he turned his life around.

The thoughtless prick that instigates these things always seems to survive. I've had my car totalled twice by drunk drivers. The last time they crossed the highway center line. We hit head on (or so I'm told as I don't remember anything). My car went airborne before flipping upside down into a ditch. I had a serious concussion, 3 broken ribs, a fractured sternum, a compound fracture of my thumb, 2 compound fractures in my foot. I was lucky to be alive. She sustained a bump on the head. Never showed a hint of remorse. Another incident by my house saw some punk in a Mercedes take out a family of 4 going 120 in a 35 zone. All that was left was the little girl who was in my daughter's class because she was the only one that wasn't in the car. The guy that hit them suffered minor injuries. I could name several other instances where people were killed including another family near my home by someone under the influence driving like a madman who of course survived.

This guy needs to be in prison for years for what he did. The longer the better.

That is sadly usually the case.
My wife's former coworker was in an accident along with 3 other occupants. None were wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the car she was riding in was drunk and flipped her car in a residential area. Must have been going 50+. Anyways, the driver died, one passenger had a traumatic brain injury, another had a fractured jaw. My wife's former coworker held on to the handle up above the window. The car rolled and the act of holding onto the handle tore off her arm. She is only 19 years old.

I would imagine Top Golf is going to be a defendant in the wrongful death lawsuit that's coming.
