Overlooked for the FSU job in 2019, killing it at Jackson State. Would he come to NU?

Obviously, the university would have to be ok with the Barstool connection, but talk about a guy who could win on the recruiting trail and get guys to play for him. Intriguing to think about.

Intriguing. Haven’t watched any of his games. He will likely have warmer weather opportunities though. Would really rather not take a flier if we can hit a home run.

I honestly think he has a mission to improve HBCUs. Awesome for him. I don't see him taking bigger jobs for 5 years or so. He doesn't do this for the money thats for sure.

All fair points. Agree on not taking a flier, but would counter with all of us thought HCSF was the home run option when we hired him (which he definitely was).

Do we have anything to lose at this point?

100% on improving HBCU’s which is an excellent mission to be a part of. But, money talks. (Even though he likely has plenty of cash already). Just throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks.

It would be a splash for sure, but it makes very little sense outside of recruiting. We should be able to get an experienced coach that can recruit as well. Again, I, like almost everyone else, thought the frost hire was a home run, so who knows.

Of all the destinations that he could work himself into, DONU seems like one at the bottom of the list for him. Not happening.

I am not sure what his end game is.

He is also worth tens of millions. What would his motivation be here?

Him quitting unexpectedly would have to be considered a stronger possibility than someone like Mel Tucker who probably considers coaching a lifelong career and cannot afford to quit unexpectedly and void a contract.

I am not saying we should or should not go for Tucker. He is just an example of a hot coach who probably has different motivations. I can never know for sure not speak for him but Deion is a one of a kind person and personality.

There is no way to quantify it.

With Deion, I doubt he would pull any punches with the media.

To get Deion here and have him be successful, you'd have to give him a purpose to believe in along with a challenge.

We can provide a challenge, but can we provide that purpose? Can any division one school?

First, what an interesting choice he would be. Secondly, he would be the most prominent black college coach at one of the most blue of blue blood programs in a pretty freaking white state. This would be a really interesting hire.

His QB son is a JSU freshman.....Prime is not going anywhere. His other son is on the team. His daughter is going to JSU next year to play basketball. Prime is all about HBCUs and leveling resources etc. He can be a top dog where he is at....might not happen elsewhere. I dont see him going anywhere until his youngest son is drafted. I have watched all the games....the kid is a winner.

Nebraska is a lateral move (at best) for an MSU coach. Silly season with these suggestions

I remember seeing Deion at Chesterfields in Lincoln one night in the late '80s - he was there with Broderick Thomas. Maybe he had a good time that night and has a soft spot for Lincoln.

To all the folks who have brought up legitimate rebuttals/conversation points, thank you.

To all those calling Prime a horse's ***/big mouth, I hear you. HOWEVER, can it not be argued that he would be an incredibly interesting hire? Even if it were a stepping stone for Deion, would that necessarily be a bad thing? Does that not imply he would have made significant strides in improving NU when other big names come chasing after him?

His personality is undeniably attention-seeking, but I think that's a huge factor in winning over talented players these days. NU has completely LOST in the talent department for the better part of the last decade, and until we can get legitimate talent in LNK again, we are in for more pain down the road. Hell, bring his kids with him!

Loving the conversation - keep it rollin'!

If my choices for next coach are coming from the Aflac commercial they would be in order.
1. Saban
2. The Duck(duck R position name finally makes sense)
3. Deion
