Even if the staff wanted to, I didn't think an athlete can be contacted until they officially enter the portal.

Rattler almost single-handedly let three-win Nebraska beat them. Not sure that's the miracle cure we're hoping for.

No, the guy is a cancer, his teammates couldn’t stand him.
I want a qb that will call out bad play on offense...that's what we need!
I think frazier use to yell at a linemen if he wasn't doing his job.

OP, he isn't going to even take a sniff towards Nebraska. Like another poster said, he is a locker room cancer.

The sooner this program gets back to where the OL and RBs are the focus to winning that is when this program will turn around. Thinking a miracle Tom Brady type of QB will come to Lincoln is just stupid since there is no evidence it will ever happen since it has never happended in over 100 years of play.

can he throw the ball?
this is the VERY first question that should be asked at this point.
the rest can be worked on.
like this supposed attitude and cutting off the stupid orange bush above his head band

OU fans were wanting to pack up his doorm room and put him out on the street corner. He isn't good and an ego as massive as Scott Frost and Rattler would lead to a Royal Rumble of ego's.

i'm not sure people understand.

if your going to run a pass happy offence, what's the #1 thing you need?
a qb that can pass. repeat, a qb that can pass.
we have had all sort of mental cases thru the years at NU, it happens when you have 18 year olds...
and that's where we come in with guidance. sure we take heat from the media for helping the less fortunate.
but in the end it's for that best.

so if he's got 18 year old issues give him a bible if he's of the elect, if not send him to a shrink..
either way.....what we don't want to do is leave him for the streets.
have john lennon glasses guy help, he ain't doing anything else.

especially when martinez in his 4th year, throws behind or past receivers 5 yards, 50% of his passes, and smothers and the other guy, have NO playing time and look to be a year or two off..

when the boats sinking you don't go full doctor phil on a guy, you hand him a bucket and say start bailing...
but to get back to the main point,

what's the #1 thing a qb should be able to do, in a pass happy offense?

Statistically Nebraska and OU are very similar offensive teams. They're definitely better in the redzone and have a higher scoring offense than we do though. That being said he hasn't been good enough for OU this season. Why exactly would he come to Nebraska and make it work?

He's all the bad parts of Drew Tate and none of the upside

It's true that TF wasn't the most well liked, but he was respected and the team followed him.

I don't know enough of what happened with Mr Rattler at OU, but it doesn't sound like he was respected. But I still think you are making some valid points. We could really use 2 top passing QB's on the roster, like yesterday.

Why would a person try to get cancer?
why would someone want to not try to get a passing qb in a pass happy system? with NU's record?
I don't consider human beings cancer.

I promise you, if and when he does transfer, the two deciding factors will be:

(1) Opportunity to start from the minute he steps on campus
(1b) NIL $$$$$

Honestly from that perspective, Nebraska might be fairly attractive to a xfer candidate.

I'd just like to know how exactly we are a "pass happy" offense?

We are one of the more balanced offenses in the entire country.

#12 overall in YPG
#22 in rushing YPG, and #33 in YPC
#36 in passing YPG, and #4 in YPA

479 total yards per game with 213 coming via run and 266 via air.

We've ran the ball 349 times and thrown the ball 234 times for a 60/40 run/pass ratio.

Looking at our YPC and YPA, maybe we should be throwing the ball a bit more?

And then he’ll look at our quarterbacks coach.

There is a sect of the fanbase that thinks we should be running the ball 85% of the time.

There is a sect of our fanbase that believes Tom Osborne ran the triple option, and that we should 'go back to the option'.

FFS, we run 'option' nearly every play now. Most plays have 4 to 6 options, be it running or throwing the ball. The amount of pressure you can put on a defense with the rules as they are now means you don't line up under center and 'pound the rock'.

Arguably the greatest coach in college football history is Nick Saban. Guess what kind of offense he is running now as opposed to the 1st time he won a Natty at Bama? Hell, he had to change his entire defensive scheme to beat Clemson and/or win the SEC. Change or die.

His end game is NFL. Why would he come here for that? He might make $100k on NIL. $100 million at stake.

If it is NIL, he'll go back home to Arizona. I'd be surprised if he doesn't land at Arizona or Arizona State where he is still a high school football hero.

Heck, look at this thread. Not many people are gonna buy a Rattler jersey at Nebraska, even if he becomes the starting QB. And like you said, his end game is the NFL. That isn't happening here. He'd make more in NIL back home in Arizona than he ever would here.
