I am feeling optimistic this morning. Home game. Still a bowl shot. A real MUST win game. For all these reasons I think we will lose. But I am an eternal pessimist.

It’s been entraining going back to these threads for Minnesota and seeing comments by some on how we were going to blow the gophers out and have already started seeing similar posts on Purdue. I have no idea how some folks can be so delusional about Nebraska headed by Frost.

Toss up game for me, expecting it to be close. You would think we should come out on top after a bye week, but with a Scott Frost lead Husker team, you just don’t count on anything. That said, I will go with the Huskers by 3.

Their "big back" Horvath is hurt and they can't run the ball very well. I think CTB comes to play and the team scores early which gives them confidence.

I hope you are right. However, we have a way of making backups look good. Like the backup QB from Illinois, or the running back by freshman committee at Minnesota. I have never been all that sold on our so-called improved defense this year. Yes they are better, but not when it really matters. And they tend to go to sleep for whole quarters. That first half against Minnesota was a total ******* disgrace. I am expecting Purdue to move the ball on us just enough to beat us by about a TD.

Trust me. I am way down on this team and what I am really thinking is that we play the same way we did at Minnesota and let AOC continuously hit Bell and their other receivers on the short slants and curls the way Minny did and we lose in the same fashion a 30-23 game.

With that said, there was a lot of talk about how close the NW game was because we always play them close and then bam. 56-7 and it could have been 100-7 if we wanted it to be. I think Purdue is better on D so that is why I am thinking 38. They have some injuries on the OL and they are probably a little beat up from Wisconsin and their special teams seem to be as special as ours. If we jump out early we roll. If we don't, we probably lose.

Yep, I think that nails it. I still say 24-17 Purdue.

I will say, the backup, King Dorue, was close to a 1000 yard rusher as a true freshman a couple years ago. Has fought injuries ever since. I actually think he's a better RB whereas Zander is better at catching the ball I'm the flat and getting up to speed. If King doesn't play, ya...

Is Doerue hurt? Who is going to play at RB Sat?

I wouldn’t say I’m confident in this one, but out of the next 4 games this should be the one we win. If Purdue’s run game is as putrid as it was last year than I’ll take the Huskers 27-14.

He isn't hurt. Horvath is, although Brohm made it sound like there is a chance he plays. I don't expect it. Dorue has an illness that basically considers him a game time decision each week. Not sure what's going on. All signs point to him playing though. After him, it's a redshirt walk-on transfer from UNLV. I said in another thread, I'd expect about 85 yards rushing if King plays.

Both teams equal. Home field gets us 3 points. Bye week should get us 3 points. Special teams = -7 points. Brohm over Frost gets them 3 points. Husker running attack, if all cylinders firing like Northwestern game, get us 14 points. Open up passing game to include tight ends should get 7 points.

Huskers 31 Purdue 21.

Truth is that Purdue has lost to every team they have played with a pulse except for Iowa. Iowa's offense did not have a pulse. Games at home.

I think we will know how this thing is going to go early. If we face adversity and let them hang around, we will probably lose close. If we play well early, we could roll. My guess is we play well, win fairly comfortably and get everyone’s hopes up again, just to be heartbroken, yet again, down the stretch.

I agree. We always seem to lose the close games, even the ones we have statistically dominated. We need a fast start and then to keep the pressure on.

Guessing the bye week helped them, but who the hell knows. The team is unpredictable and unreliable. They could win by 5 touchdowns or lose by 10-14 points... or one score. Good lord please not again. Nevertheless I’d say if old Frosty drops this one his seat is red hot.

I say CTB and some help shut down Bell and your Dline shuts down their rushing attack and things go smoothly across the board. Maybe one INT for Amart, but it'll be a tipped ball or something, otherwise he'll have a nice stat line and the extra points and field goals will split the uprights and Big Red will be firing on all 12 cylinders and then there will be non-stop talk about how you have to give Frost another year, this performance shows he's got the team together, etc etc etc.

...or I could see Purdue getting some lucky breaks, up 7 late in the 4th, Amart drives you guys down for the tying TD with under a minute left, and instead of kicking the extra point for OT, Frost goes for 2 and the win! Perfect play is called and Amart fumbles the ball as he is running, Purdue lands on it and seals the victory.

Purdue is due for some lucky breaks. Especially after a game like Minnesota where they got none....

Because we (Frost and / or AM) dont trust ourselves, particularly in the red zone, to throw the ball, and score far too few td's. I think Frost's anus puckers up and rather than no fear of failure, he fears failure, goes conservative, and sees it as 4 down territory.

Basically copying and pasting my Minnesota prediction. Nebraska has no business losing this game on paper, but they will find a way until they prove differently. Trev will be happy he's watching a wedding instead.
