CU fires OL coach mid-season

You say this in every possible thread you can say this. We get it. Every school in America cares about winning more than Nebraska. Noted.
Who would coach the offensive line if Austin was fired mid season? I mean, our genius HC has said multiple times he doesn’t have time for ST during the game because he’s too busy with the offense.
If Frost is still around come December/Jan I’m not even confident he will replace a bad coach in Austin but probably better than putting more on the plate for a HC who is already far in over his head.

Bad, bad idea to fire Austin now. If he needs to be fired it can wait until the end of the season. I predict Colorado’s offensive line will get worse this season instead of better
the effect on CU probably depends on why they fired the guy and whether or not they have somebody else on the staff who can pick up the duties. Lots of staffs have GAs who have coached the O line. There may be an assistant who has coached the O line in the past where they could reshuffle duties. It could work. I don't think it would work at NU just because I don't see anybody on the staff who has ever coached the interior O line before GA or otherwise.
I wouldn't be too quick to cite CU's move as a profile in courage, when they're really just providing cover for a terrible offensive coordinator. But Darin Chiaverini is a darling of the local media and part of the "Buff family," so someone else had to be thrown under the bus.
I understand the frustration, but is this really about caring? Do you really think Frost doesn't care about winning?
Of all the things I think Frost is - arrogant, stubborn, egotistical - I don't think he is lacking in caring. I think he really believes what he is doing is the right thing. So add misguided among all of the other things I listed.

Yes. Probably had a good coach or GA in the wings, as Dingle points out above. I guess Colorado probably does too. Do we? according to Dingle, no.
Not counting a six game slate last year, CU has had a losing record 14 of the past 15 seasons. Hard to get much worse than that no matter what they do.

There isn't an elite offensive line coach we would be competing for to my knowledge.
I assume the firing at CU is more to send a message to the AD and boosters that the coach is committed to winning (buying time).
I don't think Frost should fire anyone mid season but at the same time he would be too stubborn to anyways. I am pretty sure any changes at this point would require Trev stepping in.

Wow, I shouldn't be surprised we have a guy as an analyst with that kind of resume while at the same time our offensive line coach has our line acting like human turnstiles.

And just what is to be gained by an in-season firing of an assistant coach? At this late point in the season it's best in my opinion to just wait until the season is over. Unless he committed some terrible crime outside of normal coaching, there's just nothing to be gained.
I’m not arguing for anything. Just pointing out something that just happened and that I thought people here might find interesting and perhaps relevant.
not unless they could hire somebody midseason. Stai I think is on the AD staff but I don't think he has ever coached the O line anywhere. Dawson coached O line for one season at New Hampshire 20 years ago. That's all of the O line coaching experience our staff has. None of the grad assistants even played in the O line. Austin isn't getting fired before the season is over.
well unless we've got an unemployed O line coach waiting in the wings we had better hope Austin isn't canned before the year is over. Bad O line coaching is still probably better than no O line coaching.

Who else is it? None of them have coaching the O line on their resume. Beckton has never done it. Maybe one or two of them did it for a high school job.
