They got a BYE this weekend.
They'll be ready as ever for Nebraska at home. They gave Ohio State everything they wanted and beat Colorado 30-0. The Bowling Green game is a head scratcher, but lets not think they are incapable of beating us.
Any team that can win on the road in the Big 10 has to be respected.
We come in off 4 straight pretty emotional games. Hard fought games outside of Northwestern. Nose to the grindstone, and we'll need to play great football for the 5th week in a row to win.
This isn't the Husker team they are used to seeing. Sounds like they may have lost Potts now. With the gophers #3 RB in there, no chance. Huskers roll.
You're damn right it's his fault. Besides being stripped, he had plenty of open grass on the left side he should have ran towards. He also should have scored in the first quarter if he cuts upfield instead of running towards the sideline. The losingest quarterback in school history finds a way to lose again.

I have been very critical but like how the team is physical and playing with heart. So I’m giving them a shoutout for solid play! They are so close and if they can eliminate the silly mistakes at crucial moments they can start winning these one score games.
I agree with the OP that getting to 6-6 and a bowl game is important for Frost. It would be a sign of improvement with this year’s schedule. This would give him another year for sure. I have been critical but I see team chemistry coming together and now is not the time to hit the reset button. Firing SF would set us back even further.

The Gophers will be down their top two RB's. Potts has a serious injury he is dealing with. His career could be over.
We should beat Minnesota on paper.....but I can't help but feel it has all the makings of a classic Scott Frost letdown game.....like last year's losses to Illinois and Minnesota
Agree, but this year’s team sure seems to have a crap ton more pride than last year’s team, so I don’t think that will happen. But we will see. I sure hope I don’t have egg on my face after the game next week.
Hate to make pre-game excuses but Minnesota is off a BYE week and we roll in off a 4 week emotional roller-coaster.
Damn sure we are beat up after that game last night against what is likely the most physical team in the B10.

This is the best team Frost will ever have here by a long shot. If the best he can do with that is 6-6, the results aren't going to get any better.

I agree with this but we have a cakewalk schedule next year. I am less than enthusiastic about Smothers. I think the o-line will probably be much better and receivers should be good as well. Defense will take a step back.
Just wait. Our crossover games (Rutgers, Indiana, Michigan) will be much tougher than we think.
FWIW, Iowa's crossovers are the same as ours, but replace Indiana with Ohio State, so they finally get a chance to see what that's like.
Wisconsin's crossovers are OSU, Maryland and MSU, so we arguably have the easiest road to the title, but that only holds true if we establish that we're contenders by making a run this year to finish with a winning record.
We are close. That’s the mantra. The question is do we ever start winning the close games? I’m not so sure. If we play decent teams or better and our opponent scores 30 points, we find a way to score 27. 20 points, we score 17. We tend to play slightly under our competition no matter what they end up doing. That what seems to be the trend anyway—we find a way to lose by a few points no matter what. So yes, we are close but at the end of the day a loss is a loss, and Frost’s moving ceiling seems to be stuck at “close”.
I'm with you. I have been as critical about Frost as anyone since last years' Illinois game. I think I am on the keep Frost bandwagon, barring some unexpected meltdown. Does that mean I am going to put up with some of his bone head play calling? No. I think due to his incredible arrogance he is SLOW to accept and learn from his mistakes but he is making adjustments. I think we get to 6 wins this year, maybe 7 and we will be ready to put a smack down on the gophers.
So he benched the talented 245 lb RB and instead chose to go with the 185 lb RB to go up the gut against the Michigan D? It is the completely asinine decisions like this that make me think Frost will never be a great coach.
Yep. I want Frost to win here. Would love nothing more than to see him be the guy. However the idea that he should stay with another losing record or that it would hurt the program to do another "reset" is laughable. There are tons of coaches that would have done a better job than Frost has done. After you do it long enough, blowing close games isn't "progress" but just becomes who you are.
People forget in Frost's first season we played a 13-1 Ohio State team to a one possession game in Columbus. Everybody treated that game as a moral victory. Well 3 years later that moral victory hasn't turned into real victories.
I don’t want to blow up what’s happening and I’m seeing some good things lately, I don’t want to start over again for the most part either but hearing every week ”we are close“ OR “ we’re so close to winning these games and I really love this team is eventually going to wear thin at some point…

Defense could be very good if all the Jr’s are back.

Safety is the biggest unknown with NPG, Farmer and Gifford the most likely. But a ton of experience back every where else.
No he is not. He is an average coach and great self promoter. But I agree this is no gimme, it will be a dog fight.
Nice write up agree with most of that. I do believe that soon “the morning after” game day will have a positive connotation as opposed to the negative vomit inducing one.
I would agree with this other than in crunch time…. I just think he tightens up when it’s time to go drive to win a game. Just seems to play different in those situations.
Has Frost proven himself average, or less than average? Flecks results > Frosts results.
How has PJ convinced people he has been a success at Minnesota? PJ’s results are still worse than his predecessors, but so are Frost’s. Frost has been a disappointment, but the PJ love is stupid. The guy just lost at home to Central Michigan, but I’m sure that was somehow elite coaching that could only be pulled off by him.
