I'm just wondering what creative , unbelievable, inconceivable, factor determines how we lose to Northwestern at home. Is it pick 6, missed FGs, blown ST coverage again, turnovers, killer OL penalties in the Red Zone? What the hell will happen?
Me too. The battering ram to the nuts is just how I felt watching that punt return last week.
Up by 1 with 10 seconds to go after NW misses a chip shot FG. Victory formation. Martinez takes a knee. Penalty. Illegal formation.
Second down snap bobbled, Martinez attempts to advance the ball by running backwards into the end zone for a safety as time expires. Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory once more.
Scary part about Saturday is the massive coaching mismatch. if I was a betting man I’d hammer NW and the points

Us fans definitely have balls of steel after all the would’ve, could’ve, should’ve our beloved Huskers have put us through!!
That and NW and NU just always seem to play close games. I don't ever bet the Husker games, but I tend to think we blow them out this week.
Actually this is a reealistic scenario. I could see us up by 4 to 6 points with about 30 seconds left we have the ball on our own 18 yard line after a false start. Frost decides to run the clock out out of the shotgun (which is totally asinine if you ask me, but he does it) and we have a bad snap / fumble and Northwestern recovers the ball on the 6 yard line. One play pass to their TE and Nebraska once again snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.
BTW, this would happen after we have 180 more total offensive yards Northwestern gets 83 more Special Teams return yards and 45 less penalty yards and + 2 turnover margin.
That was freaking impressive. Particularly the log in the nuts. These guys have to all be eunuchs. That's the only way they're still standing.
Nebraska up 2 with 1 1/2 minutes to go with the ball on its own 15 after a kick return from the end zone, NW has 1 timeout. Nebraska runs it on first for about 3-4 yds, NW timeout, 2nd down Nebraska runs for 4 more yards but the back runs out of bounds, 3 and about 2 we decide to catch them off guard and throw but Martinez misses a wide open receiver in the flat. Nebraska has to punt after burning 20 seconds of clock. They punt for 18 yards and NW has the ball at NU's 40 with a minute left, first down incomplete, 2nd down 5 yard out, 3rd down incomplete but nearly picked, 4th down they incomplete but defensive holding when it wasn't needed, 1st down NW on NU's 30 with 25 seconds left, NW hits the tight end in the seam for 20, they get up to the line and let the clock run down and spike it with 5 seconds left. Nails the field goal and despite being in control for 58 1/2 minutes, Nebraska self-destructs and we get to hear how close we are.
Actually, I don't know.... seems like they keep fighting hard with zero results. I feel like there's a bunch of good football players that are still playing hard and improving week to week, but unfortunately they're so hamstrung by their incompetent coach that we continue losing close games. We'll see week-to-week, but as this season goes by my dislike of the staff grows and my admiration for the players goes up. They deserve better leadership and I hope they don't quit.
Nebraska wins 38-10 and their lone touchdown is off of a blocked punt early in the game that sets the message board on fire and then Nebraska blows out NW after.
Good call. Wish you would have had more of those in the bag this year.....favorable correct calls that is.
