Rice and Tulane come up on lists for the B1G that assume academic research are the big drivers. Obviously not for football prowess, although they do open up recruiting beds.

ku = aau*, basketball kc market, someone to root for in basketball
rice = aau*, houston tv market, houston recruiting (take texas and oklahoma recruits)
tulane = aau*, new orleans tv market, new orleans recruiting (take lsu recruits)
nd = big time tv market, has a recruiting network of jr high private schools across the nation, which may choose Nebraska if not picked by nd.

aau* = serious research money, which I don't know how it helps us but it can't hurt
there are no oklahoma aau schools, so maybe oklahoma state could work on that, so everything is connected by geography

Got to believe this is a complete joke. Rice and Tulane bring nothing to the table. Notre Dame has told us no more than some of my ex-girlfriends. They are not joining us. They'd have to give up their NBC contract and freedom. I realize the money may be a wash for them, but they would have to gain serious dollars to even consider joining us. That's especially true with our current commissioner in charge.

the big ten has certain rules to follow in accepting applications for membership:
1. aau (with nd an exception cause they are special, I guess)
2. can not be from an alliance conference
3. has to expand the recruiting footprint (with a kansas exception cause if you let nd get away with something you have to let someone else)
4. there's been high level talks between nd, and michigan, about acting more mature and forgiveness on both sides
5. I'm providing this information for free, so let's not be too, judgemental

I've tried to address everyone's problems/hangups to move forward, and not get left in the sec dust

ps, ask oklahoma bout what tulane brings to the table.....when they stop sucking air...

Wish it were true for selfish reasons, but seems fanciful.

What does this mean, specifically?
there a history of back and forth between them 2 schools, that have brought a unhelpful environment in bringing out the best of both organizations.
I'm not into digging up bones. so I won't go into all that.
lets just say I and the Big, are about the future development for the common good.

Rice, is at the bottom of Texas schools I wanted for the big ten. Of course the big ten would find a way to "monkey paw" me.

do not underestimate the aau status for entry into the Big.
it's more than football factories..it has to do with world class r&d, for America's future

I hear you. My sources are telling me that Carnegie Melon and Tufts are next on the list if we can't lure Tulane and Rice. You'd think Tulane and Rice would be locks since the B1G offered, but actually the SEC is courting them also and right now I'm hearing they could go either way.

actually, it's based in complete reality....the big won't pull aau, georgia and florida out of the sec.
nor pull the aau tar heels out of the alliance acc
nor aau usc out of the alliance pac

all variables and options have been weighed

I understand that the big ten is not about having an entertaining product, they are more interested in "school". I have accepted this, but was still holding out hope.

It's why I have to watch other conferences for entertaining sports. Sucks to be a Husker fan.

What does this mean, specifically?
Notre Dame applied for admission to the Big Ten on two occassions in the early 20th century (also once when it was the Western Conference IIRC) and Michigan led the charge to blackball them each time. After the third rejection, Notre Dame publically said they thought their application was faught against by some members of the conference on religious grounds. ND then decded to prioritize their commitment to football, hired Rockne, and the rest is history.

I fear that we've yet to see the darkest days. Becoming like every other big ten team who runs the ball and controls clock, does not inspire hope of brighter days.

this is where the big had to be instructed on the need for a more southern recruiting structure, and not isolated in the rust belt. this big expansion news addresses that directly and is 3/4th of the plan

It picks up some southern teams, just in a very big ten/"monkey paw" way.

I know I'm a downer. If I wasn't addicted to the Huskers, I would be long gone. I've been working on it steadily. Recently picked up Ole Miss, and have been rooting for Texas Tech and Oregon for many years now.

I look at it as, I got to see my team win 5 NC's....and them were not go on ncaa probation NC's
sure it's been a pass happy circus since callahan..but no team is perfect...we are still around top 10 wins of all times...and with the run coming back...wooooah nelie

this is levels above mr. warren, he's informed as need be.
they laughed at newton too..then he pulled off the top shelf how he figured out planetary orbits 6 months earlier.
they laughed at dr. tom, now alot of them teams are sweatin bullets and in 2023 we maybe bring in around 100 million.
so being ahead of the crowd, is vital..slapping up a few new stadiums in the south is doable.
and remember the requirement, for entry, aau....and non alliance...

this limits the choices..in reality

Kevin Warren does not have a vote. The decision to admit a new conference member requires the approval of a super majority of university presidents. After all the discussion of possible expansion over the past few months, a good amount of which was on this very point, its amazing to me that more people don't understand this basic fact.

You know one of the risks of starting, and then doubling down and adding to a thread like this, as has been done here...is that if none of this happens, somebody looks a little silly.

not really trolling just bored, waiting for the buffalo game...I thought my first post was not specific enough for folks to understand that..lol
plus I feel left on the sidelines listening to all the big 12 expansion.
so I posted the only expansion I could see, considering everybody's do's and don't I have read.
if the sec blows up the acc poaching clemson and fsu...it would change..
I'm kinda interested if streaming will kill the sec's dream of a 32 team disney league...
