I'm a little surprised about BYU. They kind of think of themselves as special like Notre Dame.
i guess they have a pretty large fan base, but not ND large.I'm a little surprised about BYU. They kind of think of themselves as special like Notre Dame.
Actually I wouldn't put Alabama in that group. Give Texas a few years of getting their *** handed to them and they will be the ones demanding the SEC be "fixed".That conference has something special going. Yes they are a borderline power conference, but they have something the rest of the power conferences don’t have. That being they are all truly equal teams. Their is nobody holding up the rest of the conference. They either succeed or fail as a collective. No Ohio St, USC, Alabama, Clemson type to hold up a sinking ship (And making demands that benefit only them) I actually kinda wish Nebraska could get in on that action. Yes I know it’s a pipe dream. But it would be fun.
Records from 2010-2020:
Central Florida: 94-46
Cincinnati: 88-50
BYU: 88-54
Houston: 83-53
texas: 78-60
Will this make it harder to lure Campbell away from Iowa State?BYU, Cincy, Houston & UCF formally applying next week
looks like a pretty fun league tbh

Agreed. Pac wants nothing to do with them and now pac will want even less to do with the big12. Games with BYU will have to be played so they can be home before midnightThey may feel this is one of their few chances to jump into a “Power 5” conference.
I would say yes. I would put Luke fickle in the same categoryWill this make it harder to lure Campbell away from Iowa State?
No, it should make it easier, since Iowa State likely won't be in a Power 5 conference after Texas and Oklahoma leave for the SEC.Will this make it harder to lure Campbell away from Iowa State?
PLUS I don't think that's a TV executive chop licking conference. And splitting the money by 2 more teamsThose teams could help the Big 12 continue as a league I suppose, but it doesn't do much for the old school geography nerds link me who like conference schools to neighbor each other. And saying West Virginia, BYU, Central Florida and Houston in the same sentence doesn't scream "Big 12" to me.
The Big MT. Sunbelt Conference USA. Has a nice ring to it.Big 16:
north: isu, ku, ksu, osu
south: houston, bu, tt, tcu
east: uwv, memphis, cin, central florida
west: byu, bosie (then add unlv & san diego state, when ut & 0u leave)
Current TV contract is going to be extended to 2030. While details of the payout levels for joining members has not leaked out, the increase in revenue for them will be significant. Recruiting in OH, FL, and Tex, will be strengthened. By 2030, the Amazons, Googles, and Apples of the world will all most likely be looking for sports inventory for their streaming platforms, so we will see what happens. It will be nice to be in a conference where everyone is on equal footing. Getting rid of Texas will be a huge bonus.Rough travel for a conference that will be lucky to land a prime TV gig on any network.

I was hoping Texas would leave when Neb left. Texas damages every conference they are a part of. All of the members of the B12 that voted for unequal revenue distributions will finally be gone. I suspect the conference will flourish.SEC thought adding Texas was a plus, and you think getting rid of them is a plus, so I guess everybody won.
Don’t be naive as ESPN refused to negotiate because they had been in extensive talks with the departing members and the SEC.I’ve seen no confirmation that the Big 12’s current TV contract is being extended, is there a link or source for that? I can’t find it.
The only info I found was that their tv partners refused to negotiate an extension earlier this year, which is one of the factors that prompted OU and Texas to leave.
Again, is there a link or source for your statement that “current tv contract is being extended to 2030”? Thanks in advance.Don’t be naive as ESPN refused to negotiate because they had been in extensive talks with the departing members and the SEC.
