Turnovers, penalties, special teams. The ignored third phase of the game. Each team had a fumble lost, but Nebraska's botched punt return safety was essentially a second turnover. The penalties were low on each side, but Nebraska's roughing the passer prevented a stop on downs and allowed ILL to score. Illinois' punter averaged 10 more yards per than Nebraska's.

Nebraska's offense actually gained more yards and scored more points than the Illinois offense. For evenly-matched teams Nebraska put on a clinic how to lose.

it’s the little things.
I used to say if bo could just make modest improvements, it would help tremendously.
if Scott could eliminate a few mistakes & miscues, we might get to .500.

Yea I didn’t expect a SENIOR to run to goal line to field a punt……. Good god High schoolers don’t do that!
Sure. We are worried about it landing at the 1 again. 99.999999% of the time that ball goes in the endzone for a touchback

They have ZERO field awareness when it comes to returns

In year 4 you could predict the opening to the 3rd quarter almost everytime. Opponent scores a td on their opening drive while we go 3 and out or close to. Idk what percentage of our last 33 games have had that exact thing happen but I know I won 10 bucks making a bet with my buddy that that's exactly how the start of the 3rd quarter would go. The start of the 2nd half is when the coaching adjustments have the biggest effect and ours seemingly fail every single time.

Surprised CTB didn't target someone and get ejected. I doubt he will ever be late for a Mensa meeting. At least he isn't a captain... oops...
