Same as always, we used to joke about how lame the Big Ten was, nothing has changed. The west is horrible and the East has OSU and that is about it.

9 wins should be the basement

We play eleven games. One lost to covid. BIG decides twelfth game is no contest. We end up 5-6 and go to a bowl because of academic achievement.

12th game lost to covid-19, but isn't someone deemed the winner by forfeit in 2021?

If we beat Illinois, it will be 8 wins. If not, probably be a challenge to get to 6.

Really hard to predict with so many variables that could ruin the season. If AM stays healthy then 6-6 or 7-5 is likely. If AM goes down then this
becomes much less likely.
It is imperative to win at Illinois to get these guys to believe. If Illinois beats us then I’m afraid this will be more rinse and repeat of the Frost
tenure.

7-5...if they improve on penalties, special teams and if AM2 is healthy 8 or 9 wins. 10 wins would mean all of the following plus the coaching staff figuring it out. Frost's small adjustments might lead to 2-3 more wins a year (Bigger O and D line, Bigger more physical receivers, emphasis on special teams and field position, Downhill running game and a culture that is bought in. With that being said I'm good with 6-6 but feel 7-5 is a move in the right direction.

I see 5 for sure wins and 2 losses, and the rest in my opinion are toss ups.

The entire season is dependent of who shows up at QB... If the Frosh 2AM shows up I will say 8-9 wins. If the 2AM from the past two years shows up 4-5 wins. I hope Frost chose properly when he stayed away from the transfer portal at QB.

everytime frost thinks swing pass, he should hand of to the rb, it will establish the depth chart, keep martinez healthy, and leave us in better positions, then they won't be expecting a short swing pass, when we do run it

I've posted this before and am sticking too it...

With my Koolaid filled Goggles on:

Illinois - Win - I agree that THIS game will set the stage for the season
Fordham - Win
Buffalo - Win
OU - Loss - Closer than predicted
MSU - Tossup - But I'll say win - Nebraska takes the momentum from playing well against OU and gets revenge on Mel
NW - Win but will be close as usual

So that's 5-1 for the 1st half of the season... get's ugly but we still have momentum

MU - Loss - as much as I can't stand Hairball and that its home I still think we lose this one
Minny - Loss - MN is going to come into this game with only 1 maybe 2 losses and it's in their house...
Purdue - Win
OSU - Loss but NU demonstrates that we have improved
WI - Win - I think Nebraska gets the best of Wisky this year and starts the process of asserting future West Div dominance
IA - Tossup but It should be a Win after we beat WI plus we'll have great momentum from a turnaround season and get them at home to close it out before bowling...

In the end I'm saying 8-4 +/- a game depending on how things swing....

7 outright wins
6 forfeits (which the NCAA will declare as wins)
1 loss
(Big 10 title game victory, plus loss in the first round of the playoffs)
=
13-1

Offense looks night and day with big receivers. Martinez still makes mistakes, but bigger targets make him look closer to what everyone wants from him.

Also, a RB breaks out and hits 1000 yards.

I was asked an opinion. Until i see anything that proves me wrong I have to assume more of the same. Coupled with a brutal schedule, 3 may be the ceiling.

Question was not what I WANT to happen, but what I think will happen.

I really see no need for that. Im not seeking attention any more than anyone else.

I agree with you. If you don’t predict an outstanding season (which is understandable given the past 4 years) you are “seeking attention”. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else who has commented on the thread.

I wouldn’t waste one moment worrying about it. Some posters are butt hurt because they told us how fast Frost was going to turn the ship around. They have been wrong about nearly everything so far.

After year two, several posters stated pointing out the facts that several aspects of this team were not making progress. All of a sudden, that makes you a target as a hater who wants to see the program fail.

These particular posters are on their last stand as this is now a Scott Frost team that he has recruited, coached and developed. They will have no other option but to proclaim how 6 wins is improvement.

Barring a huge dose of “getting your **** together”, this is a 4-8 to 5-7 year. We‘ll know where we are after the first four games.

2014 was the last time NU beat Iowa. With 6 straight losses to them, I think they're properly listed under the 'loss' category.
😂 Ioway isn’t a top 10 team and will not be better than last years team ..

We’ve practically handed the game over to them the past two years because of poor special teams and the game is in Lincoln this year…

No idea. None. Zippo. We could go 3-9 or 9-3. Is Frost a lousy coach whose first three years are indicative of his skill set, or a really good coach who inherited a dumpster fire and then had bad luck like lightening storms and Covid? Or is he something in between and we go 5-7 or 6-6?

The illinois game will set the tone
That is the question at hand. Lousy or good? Great and folk hero status are not present options.

I don’t include Covid- that’s an argument several put forward over the months of rationalizing.

Every team had to deal with it, many in a more restrictive environment, many did it with much more success

In my best @cidsports voice -

- OLine is not as good as perceived
- Defense is better, will play better against teams like Northwestern, Iowa and Wisconsin than they will OU and
OSU because of style of play as much as talent level.
- Injury prone QB is always a concern
- schedule is not as brutal as people make it out to be. Ohio St and Oklahoma are the only elite teams on the
schedule.
- I'll optimistically go with 7-5

Did Riley‘s 3 seasons have tougher schedules than this one..

4-8. I hope I'm wrong.
This is where I'm at too. 4-8 or 5-7. Crazy that 5 of the last 6 seasons have been losing seasons. Really want Nebraska to surprise me but I don't have a lot of faith in this current coaching staff given the last three seasons. Please surprise me.

6-6 sounds about right…and since Frost has lowered the bar so far many will jump for joy with that record.

If we lose to Illinois, Frost should get the Lane Kiffen treatment and be fired on the tarmac. But we aren’t that lucky.

6 wins is bad enough, if he goes sub 500 he needs his walking papers.

I Don’t Think So..
2015 - riley was 1-1 vs top 25 teams (both top 10)
2016 - riley was 1-3 vs top 25 teams (0-1 vs top 10)
2017 - riley was 0-3 vs top 25 teams (all 3 top 10)

2021 - 4 pre-season top 25 teams on the schedule (2 top 10)

they all look pretty similar to me
