Don’t look down your nose on a bowl game.
In Year 4, this is disappointing. I fully expect EVERY Nebraska coach to go to a bowl game. In Year 4, I expect a New Years Day or better bowl. Am I alone?

This is tough.
I’m looking at the schedule and going game by game, and there are 4-5 tossup games. But most of those are at home.

Wins
Illinois
Fordham
Buffalo

Losses
Oklahoma
OSU
Wisconsin
Iowa

Tossup/Should win
MSU
Northwestern
Purdue

Tossup/ Could Lose
Michigan
Minnesota

So if I give Nebraska two of the three “should win tossups” and split the “could lose tossups,” that would be 6-6.

So I will go with that.

Ioway isn’t in the same category as the other 3.. It belongs with Michigan and Minnesota…

No idea. None. Zippo. We could go 3-9 or 9-3. Is Frost a lousy coach whose first three years are indicative of his skill set, or a really good coach who inherited a dumpster fire and then had bad luck like lightening storms and Covid? Or is he something in between and we go 5-7 or 6-6?

The illinois game will set the tone

There are 6-7 wins in there.

The key to 6 or more is an injury-free AM. I'm not sold on OL ..... which directly relates to AM's health and ability to run consistently.

AM is injury prone, that will cost a couple wins, ergo 5-7

Break out player = Oliver Martin

@ Illinois - loss, yet another quality coach runs Frost/Chins around like organ grinder's monkeys, 4 turnovers, 100+ yards penalties, fanbase implodes
Fordham - win
Buffalo - win
@ Oklahoma embarrassing loss with 5 turnovers
@ Michigan St. - loss, Martinez permanently benched after 3rd turnover, Smothers or Masker finishes game respectably
Northwestern - close win, Smothers or Masker starting to feel comfortable
Michigan - win
@ Minnesota - close loss, NU ahead by 1 with 1:50 left and 1st down on the 50, MU 1 timeout. Frost calls two pass plays that are incomplete, runs for 6 on third. MU uses final timeout, has nice punt return, drives the field and kicks the winning FG.
Purdue - win
Ohio St. - respectable loss
@ Wisconsin - win
Iowa - win

7-5

We play eleven games. One lost to covid. BIG decides twelfth game is no contest. We end up 5-6 and go to a bowl because of academic achievement.

Obviously nobody is happy that we’re shooting for a bowl game in year 4, but you have to calibrate your expectations to what’s transpired. At this point 6 wins is an improvement, especially given the schedule. Hopefully it means the staff is adjusting to the league and can continue to improve.

Pathetic. Schedule will look middle of the road come December.

I predict an exciting hoops season, one with actual stakes in play (not fingers crossed hope we play well games vs lame loser overrated nobody B1G foes) will follow football season!

Impossible to predict. Too many unknowns. They could go 2-10/3-9 or finish 8-4/9-3. Would not surprise me at all if they lost to Illinois and Purdue... shoot even Buffalo. Not convinced Frost is the guy. He is continually badly out coached in the big 10. I’m hopeful, but I’ve also seen this movie before.

At what? Academics, football, job placement/networking? Pretty sure no sucking in any of those areas…
Your proud Husker fan father is embarrassed of you.

And he failed miserably in raising you.

Also, not for nothing, but plenty of sucking taking place in south bend rectories.

Also also, there is a less than zero chance you graduated from ND, so boasting about job placement/networking is somehow sadder than your existence as a human.

I agree with 6-6 with a chance at 7-5. I think they beat Iowa this year. 7-5 would be progress though…and that is what I’m hoping to see.

I also want to see the run game be a bigger priority. Hopefully the OL and young running backs can help us do that.
