Who imposed more covid restrictions, USA or Sweden?
On a federal level? Sweden.

I’ve been on record saying the virus is micro level and shouldn’t be treated at a macro level. Population density, vaccine rates, local case loads, hospital capacity are some the elements that should be considered for local management.

You might want to go look at some statistics... A lot of the largest unvaccinated areas are large cities around the US which basically don't vote red. Also, Black and Hispanic groups are the lowest vaccinated groups, both of which do not usually vote red. Doesn't matter the administration, both parties have caused the hesitancy and both stepped on their dick pretty heavily. We get it, you don't like Trump, but at least get your facts in order.
exactly correct. I voted for Trump twice. I even gave him money the first time around. That said, he and virtually everybody else on both sides of the aisle made a mess of this. From Pelosi's, Harris's and Biden's attacks on the vaccine production during the campaign to Trump taking ownership of those press conferences. He could have sat back and watched Fauci hang himself in his web of early lies. I don't know why I would have expected anything different from our government "leaders" though. They screw up virtually everything they touch.

Or one of 280 authorized tests, not used by “everyone”
Are you trying to gaslight us into believing that the PCR test for covid isnt/wasnt the most widely used test to call something a "case" which was then hysterically screamed about by doctors and the news media and used to manipulate the public?

There are good points and accurate statements on both side of this issue but damn there's some misleading stuff being posted. Dr.s disagree wildly on different issues regarding this virus. I will tell you that in most cases the truth lies somewhere in the middle which sounds like a cop out but that's the way it is. Masks do help to some degree in the right settings. Vaccination was never sold as 100% effective at preventing new infections and it isn't. The death rate from COVID is extremely low if you're not elderly or unhealthy. But yet, you can't be certain that you won't win the lottery and die from it even if you're young and healthy.

We need to move on with our lives but damn it people just get vaccinated. Despite the fear mongering about the vaccine it is at least 5000 times safer than getting the virus even if you're young and healthy.

The vaccine was sold as 100% effective against hospitizations and death. It isn't. The amount that it isn't will come out eventually. There is no evidence masks stop aerosolized virus particles.

There were some who over sold vaccination. I sure as hell didn't. I will say that we're not seeing anybody who was fully vaccinated get hospitalized or die in our area. That's a small sample but that's what we're seeing here. I will point out that I live in an area that left schools, bars and restaurants open all year so I suspect our immunity from natural infection is higher than some other places as well. What is happening in Missouri though is a little alarming and it's happening in unvaccinated people.

PCR tests have certainly been used, I am saying I haven’t found reference to which specific tests were used by which labs in what proportion, but local labs use different tests, the local health department did use the original test.

Dingle, you seem to like to go much deeper into the science of covid than most. What is your take on the high rate of breakthrough cases in countries with the highest rates of vaccination, such as israel, Gibraltar, and Iceland? They all average over 1.5 doses per person.

I like how the tweet says the guy is an accredited Dr. He is a Functional Family Medical Dr. He isn't a virologist or immunologist. But hey, he is a Dr.

Here is another Dr that refutes much of what the family doc puts out there.

One thing is clear, doctors can disagree with each other. And just because someone is a doctor doesn't mean they might not be a bit whacky.

I mean, this guy was a Dr too.

I wasn't saying you did. It was a link showing Facui and Wolensky saying it.

You have been a proponent of the vaccines, but take a step back and tell me you aren't shocked that the efficacy relayed after the rushed trials turned out to be true.

This appears to be another example of the public health elite deciding to throw away everything we've learned on the last 100 years.

No, not on a federal level.

Totally agree with you on your 2nd paragraph especially with a country like the USA since it is so vast. Not sure we'd agree on which policies are good/bad, but I prefer micro over macro for sure.

Around here, you have the true believers, the chicken littles. I'm over them, especially since not a single one has said boo to me about being unmasked. Fine, they can live in fear. I felt sympathy for one lady I saw recently who was clearly going through chemotherapy.

Then you have everybody else. Those who knew this was a farce all along and those who realize they were duped the first time around and are simply going to ignore mask recommendations this time around. The average person does not like confrontation. But anyone who doesn't see the bigger implications of mandates being normalized, passports for entry to public life and forced vaccination of the highly dangerous experimental, unproven wonder shot, are simply incapable of critical thinking and not to be taken seriously. The main thing that scares me is that propaganda is highly effective.

I would have to look at demographics, what vaccine was used, and how they boostered among a few things. We will have more "breakthrough" clinical infections than I thought we would it appears BUT I ALWAYS said that this vaccine was not going to prevent you from getting infected. It will hopefully protect you from getting clinically ill and from ending up in a hospital. Nobody cares if they get a runny nose right? That was the goal. Not once did the manufacturers say that the vaccine was 100% effective against preventing infection. The number was always somewhere around 90%.

One thing to remember is that there are millions of people walking around in this and other countries with defective immune systems. It is possible in the Israel or Iceland that there is some genetic weakness in immune systems. Island states in particular tend to not have much genetic diversity. In addition millions of people are on immunosuppressive drugs for everything from arthritis, asthma, colitis, allergies, to cancer. In addition we have over a million people in this country with HIV and the estimate is that roughly 150,000 of them don't know it. There are multiple reasons why we'll have break through infections.

FWIW I just read a scientific journal article from Israel's health department that said they're only seeing a 2.6% break through rate in a given population of vaccinated people and those infections have mostly not been serious. Most of the break through infections are from a new variant B 1.1.7. I don't know where the numbers some of you guys are reporting are coming from.

I'll add that the vaccines don't seem to cover the Lambda variant coming across our southern border. Is there a similar variant in the states you mentioned? Dunno.

I am not shocked by the efficacy given how specific they made the antigens. The goal of a viral vaccine is to prevent deaths and lower the amount of clinical illness. No vaccine that I'm aware of is 100% effective at preventing infections. It protects after a virus has infected your body. The goal is to keep you from getting seriously ill and dying. Hopefully in the process you either won't shed virus at all or it will reduce the amount of virus you shed.

I will repeat that we have been developing mRNA vaccines against Corona virus since 1998. When you talk about throwing away everything we've learned in the past 100 years you're ignoring what we've learned in the past 23 years during a time where the ability to map genetic material has advanced tremendously. It is a HUGE advancement for vaccines. When you can eliminate much of the protein you don't need in a vaccine, you greatly reduce the risk of adverse reactions. On the flip side of that though is that when you make that vaccine so specific, it will probably make it less effective against new variants of the pathogen.

Yeah, completely sane drivel here. Nobody is dying, Florida isn’t receiving hundreds of vents to take care of patients, Texas isn’t asking for out of state medical professionals or asking hospitals to defer voluntary medical procedures to conserve resources. Everything is fine and completely normal.

As far as the shot, it went through the same trials that all vaccines do, is more highly effective than the tried and true annual flu vaccine. There’s only been 4.5 billion doses of COVID vaccines given so yeah, definitely no testing done there.

The one thing that concerned me some when they got so specific in their design of the vaccine was the potential for antigenic drift of the virus. The mRNA allowed them to narrow the antigens down but in the process it may have reduced the ability of the vaccine to protect against variants. I erroneously thought this vaccine was going to be good for years. I think they're going to have to back to the lab and add some antigens to the vaccine.

Wouldn’t shock me to see it be an annual shot blended with the flu shot, hopefully strains become weaker over time.

Historically viruses have tended to weaken as they mutate. I'm not sure this one is going to do that. I have no doubt that we'll have a combination vaccine but I think they're going to have to modify the antigens in the COVID fraction. Most of Israel's break through infections in health care workers are mostly due to a new variant that apparently the vaccine isn't as efficacious on. B 1.1.7 is how they identified the variant.

The vaccine is not "gene therapy" and we are NOT seeing anybody who has been fully vaccinated get sick in our area. The ones getting hospitalized this summer in our area have all refused vaccination. I'm not sure why you're on this crusade but if you convince ONE high risk person to refuse vaccination you're potentially complicit in their death. The outbreak and deaths in our area nursing homes stopped roughly 10 days after they got all of the patients vaccinated. How stubborn does one have to be to not admit that this vaccine works? They went from hauling bodies out day after day to zero facility acquired COVID deaths. None.

At the wedding I attended over the weekend in NAPA we sat with a guy who has been working on mRNA vaccine technology since 1998. He said quote "we had a vaccine ready to go for 2 previous SARS viruses. This is not that new of a technology". We just didn't have to roll out the vaccine with the other two strains because they died out quickly. I thought this one would as well but it hasn't.

You are right that this deal poses very little risk to high school and college athletes but the problem with demonizing the vaccine is that people who really do need it won't take it. The other issue is that there are thousands of people in this country under the age of 25 who may have some undiscovered health problem that puts them in a high risk category. IF we're strictly talking population medicine, they're irrelevant. IF they're your child, sibling, co-worker suddenly they become very relevant.
Yeah man, me and DeathSantis complicit in these deaths. Next you'll call me a superspreader.

I've questioned the efficacy, but you act like I've said they don't work and no one should get them.

How convenient! You just happened to be sitting next to the mRNA vaccine guy. Lol. 🤡

The idea that you'd push it to everyone, especially people minimally impacted - knowing that it isn't harmless - because it could happen to someone you care about is immoral, unethical and selfish.

Exactly what I thought. You clownshoes will let Fatty McCheetod*** say and get away with anything. Kinda like saying we could be shoving lights into our bodies and injecting disinfectant, saying it to your medical staff at a press conference, then having to walk it back and say, "I was being sarcastic," after your aides said "you just put your lunacy on full display."

You bow down to the Fat Orange Man. Nothing he stands for does he embody. Yet, you morons all see him as exemplary. He routinely mocked masks

His disregard for and dismissive attitude on the seriousness of the virus from the beginning is a huge reason why we are where we are. And much to the chagrin of the rest of the sane world, Fatty's MAGA minions listen to him.

Due to F*ckface VonClownstick's utter disregard for adhering to recommended safety protocols, his minions then and now mimic him with their disregard for safety protocols for themselves and all around them. Because of "but they's my freedoms."

Then there are his true sheeple in Congress. The list of GOP members either mocking - or straight-up actively discouraging - getting the vaccine is lengthy. All to prey on their support of the great orange fat man with a massive combover. And, of course, their "freedoms."

4.5 Billion doses, but the deaths and injuries covered up. The testing is supposed to be done before the doses are given. Maybe that's why it's still EUA? And maybe EUA shots shouldn't be given to people at minimal risk?wild concepts.

Videos abound of him saying it, without saying it. Dismissing the virus. I'm guessing you didn't watch the video. Fake news, right? Direct quotes from Fatty and his webpage. While he doesn't actively say, "don't get the vaccine," he goes as far as he can without actually saying it. And his moronic fanbase buys into it.

As far as having TDS, nah, Orangie Obesityface is just yet another narcissistic doucebag to me. The problem I have is knowing I'm walking amongst the idiots that actually believe all the nonsense and what Fatty stands for.

Other than a few exceptions, I rarely encounter people in day-to-day life willing to say what many supporters here are saying. It's much easier to be a narcissistic, racist moron under the cloak of darkness. I mean, why get an education when you have the internet and can buy a gun?

All that after Florida is over 60% vaxxed for adults and Texas at 59%. If hostpitals are seeing anywhere near the crowding as the first wave where no one was vaccinated, that should be a massive red flag. Source: Simple math.

If my choice for the next PUS was discouraging people from getting vaccinated then yes he's complicit in their COVID death.

I wasn't sitting with THE mRNA vaccine guy. I was sitting with AN mRNA COVID guy. The seating chart for dinner was made out I'm assuming because the "mRNA guy" had a similar scientific background to my wife and me. That's how you do things like that. The only discussion we had about mRNA was about the fact that they've been working on it for 23 years and that he was disappointed with how people were fear mongering the vaccine. He did say that they've made an exciting breakthrough with something but that he "wasn't at liberty to talk about it yet". You can choose to believe it or not. There's no way for me to prove it or you to disprove it.

You will note that I've been respectful to both sides of the issue and differing view points. I've not been emotional or overly political about this. Unfortunately the debate on either side has been fraught with emotional and political arguments that often stretch the boundaries of the truth including some of the tweets that have been dug up from around the world. My view is what is our most logical best path forward to allow us to reduce death loss and keep our country open and operating? IMO the obvious answer is to get as many people vaccinated as possible. Continuing to post on social media things disparaging the vaccines is not in line with that goal. No vaccine is 100% and without some risk of negative reactions. The Moderna and Pfizer ones are damned good. AstraZeneca's I would not take.

I've said at times you're reasonable and at times you're ridiculous.

The point remains, it's immoral, unethical, and selfish to push this on kids or mandate it in any way for any reason.

The avg age of death is higher than life expectancy.

You bring up the 1 million people with HIV... Largely drug addicts and gays. Not sorry to say I'm not changing my life for them.

A life lived by the basis of the immunocompromised, obese, diseased, is not one I'll live.
