didnt we used to get 15 yard penalties when a defender would make an X with their arms after a big play?
Don’t remember… It’s been too long Since we had a play worthy of throwing the bones…. :)

seriously though, it seems like it happened for maybe a half a season, and then the refs backed off on that. Maybe somebody else remembers better.

I don't remember that ever happening. Perhaps throwing the bones along with some other stuff but not just the bones.

I do remember one time we had a WR get nailed for pointing at the crowd after TD catch. That was right after they tightened the rule.

It's funny...the big 4* QB recruit that committed to OU this weekend...after announcing, the guy next to him (presumably his dad) told him to flash the horns down, which he promptly did. What's the penalty for doing this at a presser?

The #5 Ranked Player in the Class of 2023 chose the Sooners over Ohio State, USC, LSU, and Alabama.

Oklahoma now holds the #2 Class in the 2023 Team Rankings.

I don't remember anyone getting a flag for throwing the bones. Iowa kicker did far worse

I do remember, like I posted, for just a short while, throwing the bones was considered taunting and worthy of a flag. Any form of celebrating a big play would be considered taunting and worthy of a flag. But it was quite short-lived…

edit: for example, signaling a first down after a run drew a flag for Cory Ross… It was stupid. But for a very short period of time, the refs enforced it.

Players, fans, and even opposing coaches need to go overboard with the Whorns down sign until the officials and school declare the situation a lost cause. Screw 'em.

Texas lawyers Billy Bob, Jim Bob and Bobby Bob must have dirt on the NCAA to get such a frivolous ruling.

Why don’t the opponents complain if whorn players show the horns sign to another opponent while scoring or making a play they should get the same punishment..

Isn't it when the cow has his horns down, he's coming after you? I'd much rather him have his horns up and not charging me...

Horns down never really bothered them, until they started sucking.

Looks like the officials are now saying will only be called when directed at a Texas players. Not fans. Will see how it works out. But UT needs every advantage to win today. ISU has passed them by.

Taunting is a penalty whether it be with horns down or any other gesture.

But yet they are allowed to do the horns up sign. Ridiculous
For those who didn’t read the article, it’s only a penalty if you direct the horns down at an opposing player. In other words, taunting. You can do a general horns down gesture to the crowd.

Horns up in an opposing player’s face would also be taunting. We can debate about whether taunting should be a penalty, but there’s no double standard here.

As it is written, you are correct. I'll wait to see how it's enforced, though.
