RIP Terry Donahue

RIP, died at 77 and left behind his wife of 52 years, three daughters and 10 grandchildren from cancer. He was a class act. I remember him saying in the early to mid eighties that our linemen were unusually large and powerful. I wonder why? Lol.

Nebraska and UCLA had some memorable games back in the 1980’s and early 1990’s.

I always enjoyed seeing them on the schedule. He was a legendary coach for that program and for his overall contributions to the sport.

Damn good coach, even greater person. His broadcast along with Sean McDonough on the Orange Bowl vs Tennessee was great.

Memories of 1981, when he came to the Midwest for a game.

He was a strong coach.

OU also had some good games with UCLA in the 80s. Guy was a class act.

Often had the lesser talent vs USC in the 70’s and 80’s, but managed to have a winning record against them. Took over at a young age when Dick Vermeil headed off to the Eagles. His teams always seemed to get better as the season wore on. Enjoyed the beat down his team put on the much favored Illini in the ‘84 Rose Bowl. An absolute no doubter!! Good broadcaster when he finished coaching too.

I was actually in LA to follow Northwestern (wife’s school) during their miracle Rose Bowl run of ‘95 when he announced his retirement. This Cats fan thought Gary Barnett would be staying behind to take the job. Still kind of surprised he didn’t.

I too am in my 60’s and I’m aware of USC having the the better football program but UCLA has the better athletic programs..

I was at that game. I had just moved to Southern California and took a bunch of family members and my girlfriend at the time. I was bragging up the Huskers but that didn’t go so well!

RIP. I believe it was Terry that used to say playing Nebraska would take a physical toll on your team for weeks after you played them. We need to get back to that style of football fast. I think we're halfway there.

i knew a rb from ou in the late 80’s he said the same thing. ou might win, but there was a physical toll. said everyone playing for N was trying to rip your head off.
