OT True Detective

I was so into it, but it overpromised and under delivered. Go back and watch the scope of how deep they implied the conspiracy went, and then see how it played out. There are whole parts of the story that made no sense by the end.
Season one kicked ***. Matthew McConaughey totally controlled the screen. Not even close. Season two totally sucked other than the scene where Colin Farrel beat the guy up on his front porch. That scene was hilarious. Season three was ok. Just stop at season one and you will love the show.
Season 1 - "If you get a chance, you should kill yourself" "My life's been a circle of violence and degradation long as I remember. I'm ready to tie it off." Rust Cohle Great stuff.
Hmm. I'm almost halfway through Season 2 Episode 1 and beginning to lose interest. Ugh.
Season 2 is a complete train wreck. While Season 3 pales in comparison to Season 1, it wasn't terrible. Skip ahead to it.
I ended up hating season 3 even more than season 2 just because of the lame ending.

I've had to watch a few of the dumb romcoms she's in, and you wouldn't really think twice about her. But that scene in season 1.... holy moly. And actually, the romcom she's in with Adam Devine "When We First Met" is kinda funny.
Funny you mention that. It was recommended to me at the same time as True Detective.
I think Season 3 was really good. Stephen Dorff's performance was incredibly surprising. He was terrific, and Mahershalla Ali was even better.
Season 2 was just an awful attempt in many ways. Season 3 recaptured some of the grittiness as seen in season 1.
It's the closest thing to a soap opera that I'm ever going to watch and admit that I like!
