I don’t know the specifics of this “free year” due to COVID. I don’t know if that means we have an open slot, or if it was only open because last year didn’t count for him. There are still plenty players in the portal if this means there is an opening. He leaves a void just simply because he was a fairly gifted “big” who could protect the rim and rebound.

My understanding is that there are still scholarship limits. The Covid exemption just means that seniors that would have exhausted their eligibility can stay without counting against that cap.
not sure how it impacts the numbers after that, other than it didn’t count towards players’ 4 years of eligibility.
