IG seems a lot like Husker Online. Yikes, why do we chose to be like this?

to be fair, we don't choose to be like this. or, at least I don't.

we've been beaten to a pulp for 20 years. now our tails are tucked and legs quiver at the very site of Husker football, and we're very quick to bite even when being fed treats.

the fact fans still have winning expectations is a lot more than most irrelevant programs can say going on 6 straight years of no bowl appearances.

Going and typing comments like that is definitely a choice. Yes the last 4 years of missing Bowls has sucked, Heck the last 10 years have mostly sucked, but it doesn’t force someone to be a miserable jackass.

Maybe it's because I grew up rooting for the Cubs, but every season brings the possibility of something good. Even though I was against hiring of Riley from day one, I still had that hope before every season opener.

sure, typing anything and posting is a choice.

but, I disagree that fans haven't been forced into misery after eating sh*t by the shovelful every fall Saturday for a decade-plus.

being a Husker fan, especially when not surrounded by fellow Husker fans, is..... trying, to say the least.

(spare me the 'so stop watching' bs)

2016 happened for the Cubs.

But Nebraska fans haven’t had to endure that. We had 40+ years of greatness, we seriously can’t handle a few down seasons without turning into Eagles fans.

Would take an 1989 or even a 1998 from nebraska. Not saying it's going to happen, but it's possible.

I guess I look at it a lot different. I don’t live around any other Husker fans either. I only get to talk Huskers in real life occasionally with friends and family from back home. Places like Husker online are where we can talk about the program we grew up loving and now those places are freaking miserable. And it doesn’t make the situation better, in fact it makes it a lot worse. But here we are....

I look at it differently, too. I don't mind anyone saying anything, good/bad/otherwise. none of it makes a lick of difference on the field.

hope in one hand, and all.....

'A few down seasons'?

what was our last meaningful win?

Yes a few down seasons. We have been bad the last 4 years. Prior to that we won 9+ 8 out of 9 seasons and won the division 3 times. And most of us have been fortunate enough to have watched multiple National Championship teams, Heisman Trophy winners etc.

won 9+ (against nobody), won 3 divisions only to go on to be completely embarrassed in every title game, save our last in the Big 12.

maybe I'm greedy for wanting more fortune and less of what we've endured since 2001. the 20 years since that one have contained quite literally nothing but some individual awards (basically all for one player). we don't hang banners for division titles.

like Gordon Gecko said: GREED IS GOOD.

My wife will wander into the living room on Saturday and say "Soooo, are you going to be happy or mad in 3 hours?"

Over the years I have become more indifferent than mad but it's still a ton of fun (to me). I do CARE that Nebraska isn't the team it once was...but i'll never put them down. (coaches maybe, players never) 18-24 year old guys, playing a sport that generates billions yet pockets them nothing just don't deserve my public ridicule. If the frustration of watching them has become too much for you...well...shut it off.

I don’t have any Husker fans around me either. Instead I’m stuck with insufferable UCLA fans that believe the world owes them everything. All I’ve heard all week is how they would have boat raced Baylor.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is most of those here that ***** the most are trolls from other sites.

Being a miserable jackass is the only way I know how to express my angst and frustrations, outside of just no longer caring and not being a fan anymore.

The internet has just made it more tangible and "in your face". I remember listening to the post-game shows on KFAB after a loss in the 80's and 90's. The retro OWH voice from the grandstand had a lot of this, too. Lots of pissing and moaning on National Signing Day as well, especially back then.

I'll never forget the year when TO told fans "This was the best we could do" and I think it was one of the first classes that really got the glory years started. I wish something like that would happen again soon. Now excuse me, I need to dump the rest of this kool-aid.

I remember soooo many teams in the 80s and early 90s where NU would beat up on teams in the conference and battle OU to see who went to the ornge bowl just to get worked by miami fsu or some other south school..i long for those days but now I just try to enjoy the games.. i will always love the Huskers.. no matter what product they put out there.. just will

I remember thinking that ‘91 Citrus Bowl was rock bottom. Things seemed bleak.

C’mon man (in my best Joe Biden voice).

You beat the “bad fans” topic to death like I beat “Frost’s pathetic 3 year tenure” topic to death. We are all hurting and all are finding ways to cope.

You continue to be optimistic and so far you have been wrong 90% of the time. That hurts - and instead of being frustrated at Frost - you turn your frustration towards fans that point out the current reality. I hope you ultimately are right about Frost - I will gladly eat crow. But his goodwill is used up on me until he shows something different than the weekly sh*tshow we have endured the last three falls.

You seem very confused. I have not beaten any bad fans topic to death. And I have not made any predictions about Scott Frost success at Nebraska, so I’m not sure where your 90% wrong nonsense comes from. I have been as frustrated with the results as anyone and I have said I think he should be gone if we don’t win this season.

What I am pointing out has nothing to do with “reality”. Read those comments. Those people are just being toxic ********, completely removed from reality. I couldn’t imagine living life like that. It’s pathetic and if you don’t see that, I don’t know what to tell you.

Unless I’m not going into Twitter correctly, I see 8 comments. One says they’re done drinking the Kool aid, another says same crap as other years, another suggesting another losing season. Are those the toxic people completely removed from reality or are there other comments I can’t see beings I do not subscribe to Twitter?

What did any of them say that's wrong? Maybe the lip service every year does something for you but for everyone else we may finally be in put up or shut up mode. It's not like the fans that tweet pointed out were tweeting at players or coaches specifically.

Both. But yes, if the football team you supports puts out a video of practice clips and your response is to get online and reply to them that the OL sucks, same **** different year, we are going to be 4-8, etc. You have some freaking issues.

Every one of those comments is wrong. Why post anything like that? It is completely screwed up. I know the whole shut up and win thing makes you feel like a big man, but you know it’s the off season. And I am not the only person that wants to hear the practice reports and watch the practice clips, if you don’t fine, but what’s they point of ******* responses. And if you don’t want to know what’s going on, why come to forums like this to talk about how you don’t want to know, seems insane.
