He was a terrible passer, but an incredible runner. I remember a near upset of UT. He had an amazing game, then lost it for us on an interception at the end.The dude played hard no doubt. He was a terrible passer - terrible. You won't see those highlights, but the team could have gone a long ways farther if he could have made a 10 yard pass with consistency.
You're statement is so accurate. I was at a game sitting on the westside under the pressbox with a ton of old people surrounding me watching him play. There was a play he rolled out with Dahrrahn Diedrick out in front blocking the linebacker on a run/pass option. Diedrick peeled off the LB and took off down the field with NOBODY within thirty yards of him. The LB ran at Lord who threw a beautiful pass to a very wide open Diedrick for an easy sixty yard TD. Strike that. Lord threw a beautiful spiral ten yards past a wide open Diedrick for a very incomplete pass landing on a very green side of the field. It was baffling. He could have easily completed a fall away sky hook pass that would have gone minimum forty yards. I went insane and all the blue hairs all spun around and looked at me like I was some *******.The dude played hard no doubt. He was a terrible passer - terrible. First game I attended as a kid. Will always remember, it was cold night and DeJuan Groce got us into chip shot game tying fg position on a punt return. Pretty sure it was the following play Nathan Vasher intercepted Lord in the Northeast corner of the end zone. I remember how sick I was seeing the Texas flag waving at midfield and the stupid Texas fight song playing non stop as we filed out of the stadium. He was a terrible passer, but an incredible runner. Watching those replays reminds me of what Nebraska was all about under Osborne. Power and big plays, oh how I long for 30-40-50 yard plays that are well designed , plays that get the defense over pursuing and/or out of position .Frank mutated the offense to take advantage of Crouch’s running skills. Then Lord really didn’t have much in terms of an RB, so he became the offense.
Yes.But is he better than what weave got?
