That other thread about Schnellenberger got me thinking. Have you ever thought about combining different years offense and defense from similar eras? Example: '83 Offense / '82 Defense. Would we have beaten Miami and given TO his first title?

Others that I have thought up:

'01 Offense / '99 Defense
'06 Offense / '09 Defense

Any other mash-ups from similar eras?

Ha... you might be on to something about the 2001 team, however, that '06 defense was still pretty damn good.


2018 offense with 2009 defense = 11 wins.

You could add about any offense to that 2009 D and we might have won a title. That 2009 D was filthy.

The '84 defense may have been better than the '82 one. The '84 defense gave up less than 10 PPG. Combining that D with the '83 offense would have been pretty great. In '84 there was too much drop off from '83 in key skill positions. Smith/Dubose, were a pretty good combo instead of Rozier, but there was really no replacing Gill/Fryer.
