The Big East just got the coach from Texas to takeover at Marquette.
This was more of Shaka getting out before he got canned. Smart (no pun) move by him...plus his wife wants a city not a college town. Even though Austin is sort of both.
I don't live out there but is Zags basketball really the king sport in the state?
Well there is always a reason. I mean why else would Fred Hoiberg take over a Nebraska basketball program.
WOW ! Will be interesting to watch UT and OU do the dance in trying to find a new coach. Might see some serious money on the table to entice a big name. The Big East just got the coach from Texas to takeover at Marquette.
"Not long enough" Well...we have all heard that one.
Sallis is an 18 year old who probably wants to play in the NBA in a year or two, not a man in his 40's working 9-5 and raising a family. Omaha is a good place to live, but if you're an 18 year old pro basketball prospect there are probably about a million other places you'd rather be.I've sold homes in Omaha for 20 years and helped many families relocate from many locations to Omaha. After living here for a few years they would have the opportunity to relocate for another job and OFTEN they would decline to move because they came to love Omaha. Omaha isn't the most fun place to live but it's a great place to live and raise a family.
I have lived in 7 different states and have discovered that the environment in Omaha is hard to match in many ways. People are drawn to different aspects of a place, but I wouldn't short change Omaha. MANY military families come back to Omaha after their service is up because of the experience they had here. Omaha has it's flaws and shortcomings but year after year it RANKS HIGH in the polls of places people like to live.
Cant blame the kid one bit. I'd get the hell out of Omaha first chance I got too. However, the Pacific Northwest might not be where I would go. Gonzaga is hot right now tho.
Hoiberg and Abdelmassih (sp?) are waiting for Sallis to be a portal transfer to swoop in. Don't worry, the plan is working perfectly.![]()
he'll be a transfer if he plays defense like he did at MN.
Really wish we could have got the MN point guard the way he looked in the championship game.

What I mean is...are they a big draw are they all over the news in the state is talk radio devoted to them?College basketball teams are rarely the "king" sport in a state, You have Professional sports there in Seattle, too. But as far as NCAA basketball is concerned, Gonzaga is a National Powerhouse, and you know that ..

Other than the weather, the high taxes, the increasing crime rate, the spreading of leftist ideaology, and a high profile company leaving things are going great here.I've sold homes in Omaha for 20 years and helped many families relocate from many locations to Omaha. Horrible takeJust typical chooses the best team. Kids don’t want to work and make a team better these days.
Plus you can say you got more electoral votes for BidenI've sold homes in Omaha for 20 years and helped many families relocate from many locations to Omaha. NO!I don't live out there but is Zags basketball really the king sport in the state?
Eastern Washington and the coast are divided by mountains and don't really mesh. They relate more to Idaho and in fact they talk about joining Idaho. Not sure if they get radio signals across the mountains.
They take pride in Gonzaga.
Maybe find another board. HuskerOnline doesn't seem to be the right place for you.Reality is that the highest rated recruit ever in Nebraska and one of the top 10 in the country didn't even consider NU......and he had like 10 finalists.

It's really kind of out there in the middle of an agricultural area. I've been there. He's definitely going for the basketball and not the city. Now IF Creighton happens to knock off Gonzaga he might be inclined to change his mind.Eastern Washington is quite a bit different than the coastal Washington, I believe.
Well since Spokane is ranked as one of the best places to live in the United states, and they field a team that is pretty competitive in a sport other than volleyball, I would say he made a good choice. It's really kind of out there in the middle of an agricultural area. Gonzaga is a good story for Washington. But it’s no where near Husky or Cougar sports levels when it comes to fan support. Athletically they kick the crap out of both the state schools In Basketball. But support wise it gets left in the dust. I did a little sampling of Gonzaga knowledge from just average folks last week. I asked 100 customers what was the mascot of Gonzaga. 17% got it right..
I tried to spread the age groups equally. More people said ZAGS rather than Bulldogs. Granted I am 40 miles southwest of Seattle, however with all the media attention they have gotten in the last couple of weeks I thought it would be much higher.
